GOT7 is known as a third generation boy band in Korea as they debuted in 2014. Just like other boy bands in the third generation, GOT7 members are currently in their 20s.

How Were GOT7 Members Formed?

  1. JB and JR joined the 5th JYP Trainee Open Recruitment in 2009 and tied for 1st place and after that they were recruited as JYP Entertainment’s trainees.
  2. Mark was scouted by an agent when he was still a high school student in Los Angeles, California, and then he joined the JYP Global Audition in 2010.
  3. Jackson was one of the former members of The Hong Kong National Fencing Team. He then joined the JYP Global Audition in Hong Kong back in 2011 and scouted as trainee.
  4. Bam Bam failed the 2007 JYP Global Audition in Thailand, but after he won 2nd place in the 2010 LG Entertainer Contest and he was finally recruited by JYP.
  5. Yugyeom was recruited in 2011 after he won a house dance competition.
  6. Young Jae joined GOT7 after GOT7 had debuted for 7 months.

GOT7 Debut Facts

  1. On December 24, 2013, JYP revealed that they would debut one new boy band which would be “the next 2PM” in January 2014.
  2. On January 1, 2014, JYP revealed that the new debuting group’s name would be GOT7.
  3. JYP also announced that the new boy group would not only do dance, but would be specializing in “martial art tricking” (a form of martial arts that uses acrobatics and b-boy).
  4. On January 15, 2014, GOT7’s music video “Girls Girls Girls” was released. On that day, they held the debut showcase “Garage Showcase” as well.
  5. GOT7’s first EP “Got it?” succeeded in becoming first rank on the Billboard’s World Albums Chart.
  6. It wasn’t only on the Billboard’s World Album Chart, but “Got it?” also ranked second on The Gaon Album Chart.

GOT7’s Album and Singles

  1. After the success of their first EP, GOT7 released their second EP “Got Love” in June 2014.
  2. GOT7’s first full album was released on November 2014 with the title “Identity”; the main track “Stop Stop It” got to the top of Gaon’s Weekly Album Sales Chart on the very first week.
  3. GOT7 then spread their wings further to Japan by releasing their single “Around The World” in October 2014.
  4. A year after, GOT7 released their second Japanese single “Love Train” which succeeded in becoming fourth on the Oricon Singles Chart.
  5. In 2015, GOT7 also released their third EP “Just Right” in July 2015.
  6. On March 21, 2016, GOT7’s fifth EP “Flight Log: Departure” was released. On September 2017, the second studio album “Flight Log: Turbulence” was released.
  7. The next album “Flight Log: Arrival”, which is the third album of the Flight Log trilogy was released in February 2017. The 7th EP “7 of 7” was released in October, and the latest album, which is the Japanese EP “Turn Up” was released on November 15, 2017.

Other Facts About GOT7

  1. Together with Twice, GOT7 was chosen as the new clothing ambassadors for NBA Style Korea on February 2016.
  2. After PSY (rank 88th), GOT7 became the first Korean act to chart on Billboard’s Artist Hot 100 at 45th rank.
  3. GOT7 became part of the donation area G+ Star Zone re-opened, to help teenagers who are financially disadvantaged in the beginning of 2017.
  4. GOT7 has won many awards, including South Korea’s most prestigious award “Golden Disc Awards” in 2015. The recent “Golden Disc Awards” that GOT7 won is Disc Bonsang with “Flight Log: Turbulence”.
  5. GOT7 also has their own web drama, which is “Dream Knight” (12 episodes), that succeeded in gaining 13 millions views.
  6. Not only singing, dancing and acting, GOT7 members also show their variety show skills through their variety show “I GOT7”.
