Lee Chung-ah’s Journey in the Entertainment Industry

Lee Chung-ah began her acting career on Resurrection of the Little Match Girl on 2002 and Happy Ero Christmas on 2004 by playing the supporting character role. In 2004, Lee Chung-ah started her first leading role based on an adaption of an internet novel’s movie by Guiyeoni; titled Temptation of Wolves on 2004. The actress, Lee Chung-ah played the role of a country girl who moves to the city and her very presence attracts the attention of the town’s most popular boys, played by actors Kang Dong-won and Jo Han-seon. This movie caused the two actors who played the popular boys to become big hits as stars, but unfortunately it didn’t happen to Lee Chung-ah. In 2005, Lee Chung-ah was cast as a lead actress in her first drama with Lee Wan who played a lifeguard who finally falls in love with her. The drama was titled Let’s Go To The Beach. A year later, on 2006, Lee Chung-ah starred in the family drama Going Together and Sunday Seoul. In 2007, Lee Chung-ah starred in a movie role on My Tutor Friend 2, which had a previous sequel with a similar title in 2003 that had become a hit. The actress, Lee Chung-ah played the role of a Japanese exchange student Junko, who goes to Korea to study Korean language.  There she meets her first love; Park Ki-woong who played as a university student who also become her Korean language tutor. In 2008, Lee Chung-ah was cast to play a role in The Good, The Bad, The Weird. Even though she was playing a small role, she did her best to play the foster sister of Jung Woo-sung’s character. She explained that she practiced horseback riding for this movie, but unfortunately, the scene of Lee Chung-ah riding horseback were deleted in post-production. Later on, Lee Chung-ah could finally show her talent at horseback riding in other drama; titled Chosun Police Season 2 and at the scene during the reign on Emperor Gojong in which she played a damo with a dark past. In 2009, Lee Chung-ah continued her career in the entertainment industry as an actress to played in the romantic drama The Accidental Couple as a supporting role and in a family drama Jolly Widows. Lee Chung-ah also starred in a television drama Pure Pumpkin Flower in 2010 where she played the character of a pure-hearted girl who always keeps her spirit up in every situation and never loses hope even through the hard times. In the end, she had to pass through all her challenges to achieve her happy ending. In 2011, Lee Chung-ah increased her popularity and become a superstar after she landing a leading role in a television drama Flower Boy Ramyun Shop by playing the character of a college girl who prepared for her future career by getting a certification examination to become a teacher. However, unexpectedly, she inherits her father’s ramyun restaurant. The role she played involved being caught in a love triangle with two of the restaurant’s employees played by Jung Il-woo; the arrogant heir of the biggest Korean food conglomerate, and Lee Ki-woo; the warm-hearted ‘but-sometimes-lazy’ chef. The drama itself received a lot of love and support from the viewers and especially the fans who made the rating of this drama a big success. It was such a huge hit that the broadcasting company (tvN) decided to made another program based on the previous drama, titled Dating Agency: Cyrano to which Lee Chung-ah became a guest on. In 2012, Lee Chung-ah became a host and appeared as a guest on variety shows.  One the show titled Cats and Dogs, she became a host on a talk show where pet owners share information about pet culture and tips regarding raising pets. She also made an appearance in Music and Lyrics Season 2, a reality show about a celebrities pairing up together and doing activities with each other such as having to write and compose a song together. Lee Chung-ah was paired with actor Seo Ji-seok and she wrote the lyrics while the actor composed the music for the ballad song Looking Forward to It, which is originally sung by Heo Young-saeng. The song is also used as the theme song for Seo In-guk’s character from the family drama, titled The Sons. In 2013, Lee Chung-ah became a detective with a mischievous personality that helps a serial killer in exchange for an organ transplant for her sick mother. The movie’s title is The Five which has a revenge theme and under the thriller genre. In this movie, Lee Chung-ah also got the chance to reunite with Kim Sun-a who was her co-worker in Happy Ero Christmas (2003). Later on, Lee Chung-ah played a doormat wife in the weekend drama series, titled Wonderful Mama that same year.
