Facts about Kim Tae-woo

Kim Tae-woo is the youngest of three children. Despite not having a musical background, Kim dreamed of becoming a singer as a teenager, especially after watching H.O.T. or also known as Highfive Of Teenagers. He bought a one-way ticket to Seoul after being called in for an audition and eventually signed with Park’s company JYP Entertainment. Kim Tae-woo married his wife Kim Aeri or Kim Ariel who is a year younger than him, at the Sheraton Hotel in Seoul, in December 2011. They are blessed with two daughters, So-yool (born April 2012) and Ji-yool (born August 2013), and a son Hae-yool (born September 2015). In 2014, Kim Tae-woo, his wife, and his two daughters were regulars on the SBS reality show Oh! My Baby.

Kim Tae-woo’s Military Enlistment

He enlisted in the army on March 20th, 2007, to serve his mandatory military service as an exemplary member of the military’s search and rescue unit and was discharged on February 25th, 2009. Due to his outstanding performance, Kim Tae-woo was awarded several honors from the unit commander and regional governor. And immediately after getting discharged, Kim Tae-woo held a concert in southern Seoul at five in the afternoon to thank his fans for patiently waiting and always supporting him during his military service.

Kim Tae-woo’s Appearance in KBS’ Invincible Youth

Kim Tae-woo returned to the entertainment industry after his military service ended and joined the KBS variety show, Invincible Youth as a permanent cast member. Invincible Youth is a variety show that involves Korean entertainers meeting weekly to work and learn about farming in a Yuchi-ri village in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon Province in South Korea. This involves both agricultural work, interacting with members of an aging rural community, and competing in challenges involving agrarian or domestic tasks. As the show’s popularity grew, the cast and crew began working to make their filming location a sustainable site for agritourism, enter produce in a food competition, and promote environmentally conscious farming. Some of the products were sold within the local community, to the general public, or distributed as gifts. Kim Tae-woo, was the MC of the show, together with Hui-seok (left) and Shin-young (center). This show also featured seven girls from K-Pop idol groups, wherein they experienced how it is to live and survive in the Korean rural outdoors, these girls were also known as G7. The G7 girls initially included Brown Eyed Girls’ Narsha, Secret’s Sunhwa, 4Minute’s Hyuna, T-ara’s Hyomin, Girls’ Generation’s Sunny and Yuri, and also Kara’s Hara.

A funny moment between Kim Tae-woo and Girls’ Generation’s Sunny where they compete in a soybean pageant. In the August 27th episode, it was announced that Kim Tae-woo will be taking a temporary leave of absence due to throat surgery and he vowed to come back to the show as soon as he makes a full recovery.
