Get to Know Kim Dong-wan’s Family

Although he has never really exposed the details of his family background, it has been known to the public that Kim Dong-wan is originally an only child. However, his parents, Kim Young-jin and Park Gwe-mi,  divorced when he was young, meaning that he grew up without his father, who remarried. In addition, the financial status of Kim Dong-wan’s family before his debut was not exactly fortunate either, so he had to put up with his schoolmates ridiculing him. Kim Dong-wan once said that he even had to stay in a rented basement room, and took the free rice that was meant for the needy.  Even so, he never complained, because he thought that as the only son of his family, he must achieve success for his mother, who went through the difficulties all by herself. During his appearance on SBS’s Power FM’s 2 O’Clock Escape Cultwo Show on 16 November 2017, Kim Dong-wan revealed the surprising fact that he has a younger half-sibling named Kim In-wan.
