Yoon Eun-hye’s Profile
Yoon Eun-hye’s Career
There’s not much known about Yoon Eun-hye’s life prior to her debut with the girl group Baby V.O.X, joining the group during their 3rd album promotions. At the time, the group suffered the loss of two of their members. Fortunately, they had not yet released a hit so the member change left little to no impression on the public. The group first hit the top of the charts with their song “Get Up” which was proceeded with other hits such as “Killer” and “Missing You.” The group went on to promote until 2005 when some of the members, Yoon Eun-hye included, decided to leave and pursue other career paths, forcing the group to go into hiatus before permanently disbanding in 2006. The group successfully promoted more than just a few hits with the likes of “Why,” “Betrayal,” “Game Over,” “Doll,” and “I Wish You Are My Love” topping the charts shortly after their releases. Part of the reason why they disbanded was due to the controversy they ran into in 2004 with their single “Xtacsy” where they sampled one of Tupac’s verses that he recorded while he was in jail without clearing the rights beforehand with his estate. This resulted in a court case that sealed the deal on the future of Baby V.O.X. A year after she left the group marks the first time Yoon Eun-hye ventured out of her comfort zone and attempted to pursue acting with the drama Princess Hours, starring alongside Ju Ji-hoon, Song Ji-hyo, and Kim Jeong-hoon. The drama was an instant success between drama lovers and viewers alike, earning international fame as part of the first wave of Hallyu. The drama tells the story of a girl that is betrothed to a modern prince, and it is based on the novel of the same name. Princess Hours opened the floodgates and in came offers for appearances in dramas and movies alike. Following the success, Yoon Eun-hye starred in dramas such as Coffee Prince and My Fair Lady, which only propelled her even more into fame. She became a household name and was featured in commercials and events due to her popularity in these shows. She continued starring in various dramas until 2013 when she went on a 5-year hiatus. The hiatus cannot be pinpointed to a single cause, but multiple factors surely influenced the decision, such as scandals that plagued her name and her choice to explore a career outside of acting in various countries such as China. Fortunately, by 2017, Yoon Eun-hye had returned to the small screen through a variety show and has recently also been cast in the drama Fluttering Warming. The drama was an instant success and received the love it deserved from domestic and international fans.
