Show Me The Money

From a very young age, Kim Min-jae said that he really loves music, especially hip-hop. He decided to join the rapper competition Show Me The Money in season 4. In the first episode, when the contestants were being revealed, Kim Min-jae drew the attention with his handsome face, that was said to resemble that of Yeo Jin-goo and Song Joon-ki. Beside his flower-boy appearance, Kim Min-jae possesses powerful rapping skills. San E was impressed by his skills and said, “You’re really good at hip-hop.” Time after time, Kim Min-jae choose to focus on acting because he thought that acting could release his hidden emotions through the characters he played. Celebrity Bromance with BTS V

Kim Min-jae revealed that he and BTS V, or Taehyung, already know each other since their early debut era. They first met at the gym and since then they have become close. They also appeared in Celeb Bros where they met again after a year and a half. Kim Min-jae said that it’s hard to make time for them to meet due to their busy schedules, but they keep contacting each other by phone. Kim Min-jae revealed, “I invited him to my film’s premiere but he was so busy and could not make it. Special Appearance in Goblin

Guardian: The Lonely and The Great God, also known as Goblin, is a South Korean television series that was quite popular at the time, starring by Gong Yoo, Kim Go-eun, Lee Dong-wook, Yoo In-na, and Yook Sung-jae. It was aired on tvN, from December 2nd, 2016, to January 21st, 2017. The writer of this drama, Kim Eun-sook has also written other big hit dramas, such as Secret Garden (2010), The Heirs (2013), and Descendants of The Sun (2016). Due to its popularity, the drama reached the third highest rated drama in Korean cable television history. Luckily, Kim Min-jae made his appearance in this big hit drama as Wang Yeo in episodes 1, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13. The story is about Kim Shin (starred by Gong Yoo), a 939 years old goblin and protector of the souls, who wants to end his immortal life by finding a human bride. Goblin is the landlord of the grim reaper (played by Lee Dong-wook), who is cursed with an afterlife due to his great sins in the past and is charged for taking the deceased souls. Meanwhile, Ji Eun-tak (played by Kim Go-eun) is a high school student who can see ghosts and is immune to the goblin’s power. After sharing some moments with him, she ends up falling in love with the goblin. Sunny (played by Yoo In-na) is a chicken restaurant owner, whose beauty is undeniable but she is confused by the grim reaper’s social awkwardness. These four characters are involved in a series of twists and turns when their lives get intertwined. Kim Min-jae himself starred as Wang Yeo, the grim reaper’s past life, who used to be a king in the Goryeo dynasty. Kim Min-jae got a chance to act in some romantic scenes with Kim So-hyun, who acted as his Queen, the past life of Sunny. Even though their cameo’s screen time is quite short, it left a big impact on the viewers, as they show great chemistry between each other and people wish to see them more often in their future project.

Special Appearance in Mr. Sunshine

After his appearance in scriptwriter Kim Eun-sook’s work Goblin, Kim Min-jae was involved once more as a cameo, in his work on a historical romance drama Mr. Sunshine. Kim Min-jae made an appearance in the last episode, which aired on September 30th, on tvN, as the adult Do-mi. Mr. Sunshine reached the highest rating of cable television, up to 21.828% in Seoul. This drama that was praised for its excellent cinematography and storytelling even won certain honorable awards. The story is about a young boy (played by Lee Byung-hun) who was born into slavery and escapes to the United States during the U.S. expedition to Korea in 1871. Years later, he returns to Joseon as a United States Marine Corps officer and falls in love with an aristocrat’s daughter (played by Kim Tae-ri). At the same time, he struggles to defend his country from colonization by discovering the plot of the foreigners.
