In the case of Super Junior’s Dong-hae, who was number 99 on a list for the ‘100 Most Handsome Faces of 2016’, he has, of course, also been the subject of unavoidable rumors regarding his love life since his debut. However, none of these rumors were confirmed to be true, either by Dong-hae himself, or SM Entertainment (the agency he works under). Without further ado, here is the list of Dong-hae’s rumored past lovers and the following confirmations about them!
Surfaced Photos : Dong-hae and Jessica (HaeSica)
It’s been said that long time ago, before Super Junior became popular internationally, member Dong-hae was once a really chill guy who wanted to live life full of fun. Right after Super Junior’s fellow hoobae group, SNSD, debuted in 2007, Dong-hae was rumored to had been dating Jessica. Their relationship rumors began after an old photograph surfaced in an online community and became a hot topic in early 2012 (January). As you can see in the photo that surfaced (below-left), the two seemed affectionately photographed and acted like lovers, with Jessica and Dong-hae fondly leaning their heads against each other. Netizens showed negative reactions to the photo. However, Jessica Jung, who is now a former member of Girls’ Generation (SNSD), confronted the validity of the kissing photos, saying it wasn’t them, and denying the made-up rumors. Weeks later, after the fueling dating rumors, Dong-hae shared a friendly photo (above-right) with Jessica when they were together on the Seoul Music Awards. The selca photo has reignited dating rumors between the two, that resurfaced earlier this week after their old photo was posted online. In the photo, Dong-hae showed a soft smile and was wearing a black suit, meawhile, Jessica took a V-pose with a bright smile, while they showed off their close their sunbae-hoobae relationship, despite the raging comments by netizens. Dong-hae tweeted the photo saying, “My adorable dongseng (younger sibling) Jessica. Thank you so much for congratulating our Daesang yesterday. Congratulations on your first drama recording today. Please show us lots of love”.
Cute Dongsaeng – Noona : Dong-hae and Dara (DaraHae)
Dong-hae and Sandara Park (former of 2NE1) have been known to be close friends for over 10 years, when Donghae said that they have been friends since their high school days. While most celebrities readily broadcast their friendships left and right, it’s amazing how these two have kept their friendship silent for so long. Although they seemed like a couple, and attracted a lot of attention as the visual representatives of each group, both denied dating, and called each other long-time best friends. Dara even visited Dong-hae at his ‘Super Show 6’ concert, back in 2014, and showed fans some more YG-SM friendship (picture above). Despite often being romantically linked and misunderstood with his longtime friend, Dong-hae always confidently shared photos of them together with the public through his personal social media. Netizens usually show various responses, such as “It is time for both“, “They deserve each other“, “They must be closer than a friend“, etc. And because their chemistry is so attractive, people even consider them as a screen-couple, since they complement each other on-screen and off. In January, 2018, the two of them were seen to participate in, and celebrate, the ‘2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Torchbearer’ with Coca-Cola, along with other celebrities. Again, they commemorated that eventful day with another photo (picture above) that showed off their closeness. The interaction received a lot of delighted reactions from the fans, as it’s quite rare for the fans to see interactions between the two groups. It’s also always nice to know that the artists are still able to maintain good friendships, despite the hectic schedules and tight competition of different agencies.
Close Sunbae – Hoobae : Dong-hae and Yoona (YoonHae)
Dong-hae and Yoona was also a very popular rumor, and possibly true at some point or another, seeing how they never interact with each other now, as compared to before. If you search their names online, there were a lot of photos that they had taken together because of their similar work schedules. Some of Dong-hae-Yoona shippers also believe that they used to date after seeing their moments together on-screen. However, despite the circulating rumors about them, there was no clear confirmation whether they were dating or not. The eagle-eyed fans first speculated about their relationship based on their many similar outfits. They were seen to wear the same hats, bracelets, hoodies, rings, scarfs, headbands, and they also took pictures of those paired items and posted them online.
