Cameo Appearance in Hit Drama Sky Castle

If you are a big fan of Korean drama, you must have heard about Sky Castle. This recent hit was named the highest-rated drama in Korean cable television history due to its huge popularity. The drama revolves around the lives of housewives living in a luxurious residential area called Sky Castle, in suburban Seoul. They try to make their husbands more successful and get their children to follow their path of careers. The parents want their children to get admitted to the prestigious Seoul National University, so they use every way possible, including spending millions of dollars to hire a coordinator for college entrance exams.

In this drama, Chan-mi appeared as a cameo. In episodes 3 and 4, she appeared as herself, and went to one of the parents’ hospital due to lower back pain. As a part of her treatment, she needed to get surgery done. The comedy came when one of the interns shaved her head instead because they made a mistake and got her mixed with another patient who was going to have a surgery on their head.

Chan-mi’s Plastic Surgery

If we are talking about plastic surgery within the context of the AOA members, the leader Ji-min’s name would come on top of the search. A lot of people have suspected that she had some part of her face done, but what about the maknae, Chan-mi? To dig deeper into this matter, we will show you a comparison of before and after photos of Chan-mi. According to the pictures above, Chan-mi’s childhood photos showed her single eyelid, slanted eyes, whereas the recent pictures after her debut showed her with some extra eyelid crease, making her eyes look bigger and wider. This could be done with the plastic surgery called blepharoplasty. In South Korea, there is a popular trend among the youth called the “K-pop combo pack”, which refers to the nose and eyes plastic surgery that many Koreans undergo when they become idols or celebrities. It has become almost like a standard procedure. In the pictures above, we can see a difference in Chan-mi’s nose before debut and after. Before, her nose is more rounded, almost like a button nose. Whereas after her debut, her nose has more volume in the nasal bridge and the tip is more tuned, resembling a Concord tip. This could be achieved with a plastic surgery procedure called rhinoplasty.

Chanmi Opens Up Her Own YouTube Channel

On September 21, FNC Entertainment announced the opening of Chan-mi’s official YouTube account. The channel is called likeCHANMI and, at the time of the announcement, there was already a short introduction video uploaded to the channel. In the video, Chanmi introduces her channel, saying, “Hello, everyone! I’m Chanmi of ‘likeChanmi!” Even though she feels a bit awkward because it is her first time, she continues. She is given the challenge to turn 10 rounds while doing an “elephant pose” and then give a brief introduction about her channel in 30 seconds. She explains, “Here in ‘likeCHANMI’, I am going to show you the daily girl group beauty know-how you are curious about, backstage behind the scenes, and charms that only Chan-mi has. I will show you the different sides of Chan-mi.” However, her new channel caught people’s attention due to her way of promotion, for which she wrote, “More videos to come when I achieved 10,000 subscribers! Please help me, since I’m very close to reaching the figure. I beg you a lot of promotions and sharing.” People then started to criticize the new channel and complain about how she started the channel by trying to take advantage of her celebrity status. Some of the comments read, “You should ask for more subscribers ‘after’ uploading more good videos. There’s only one video, and how can you ask for it?” “We are not just going to follow your channel if there’s nothing to watch” and “There are many other celebrities who run YouTube, and I’ve never seen a case like this before. It seems like all you care about is the number of subscribers.” Some even started comparing her new channel to Apink Bomi’s channel. One Instagram user wrote, “Chanmi is really unconscientious compared to Bomi who’s successfully made a lot of subscribers with her good contents and passion.” But complaints aside, once the channel hit 10,000 subscribers, a new video was posted. In the video, Chan-mi showed the process of her taking profile photos for the new YouTube channel. To see more of Chan-mi’s recent activities, just head directly to her channel! And good news for those of you international fans who want to enjoy her channel’s content, worry not, because all her videos have English subtitles!
