Emergency Couples
Emergency Couples is a romantic comedy-medical drama starring Song Ji-hyo and Choi Jin-hyuk as the leading roles, along with Lee Pil-mo, Choi Yeo-jin, and Clara. The drama was aired on tvN in 2014. The drama itself tells a story about a divorced couple whose tumultuous feelings for each other are rekindled when they become reunited years later as interns at the same hospital. Choi Jin-hyuk acted as Oh Chang-min, an intern who used to be the husband of Oh Jin-hee, who was played by actress Song Ji-hyo. He was a medical school student and decided to get married to Oh Jin-hee despite his wealthy family’s opposition. Even though his family was full of doctors, Oh Chang-min gave up his medical internship and began working as a pharmaceutical salesman. However, his married life was not going well and his family kept looking down on Oh Jin-hee. Not only that, but as time went by he also started to change and began to think terribly of Oh Jin-hee. Eventually, they decide to part ways and get divorced. After their divorce, Oh Jin-hee becomes a medical student and works as an intern. Oh Chang-min, who graduated from medical school, also begins to work as an intern. Later, they meet each other in the emergency room of the hospital where they would be working together. Pride and Prejudice
Pride and Prejudice is a drama that was aired in 2014 on MBC. In this drama, Choi Jin-hyuk acted as Goo Dong-chi, a man who passed the bar exam right after high school and became a prosecutor at the age of 21. He sharpened his skills of figuring out what other people are really thinking with his brilliant mind and over ten years of experience since he became a prosecutor, even as he keeps his own private thoughts inscrutable and enjoys the perks of the bureaucratic system. Later, he had to work with Han Yeol-mu, a prosecutor-in-training who was once a detective but decided to become a prosecutor because of her dogged pursuit of truth and justice. Together with the veteran prosecutor Moon Hee-man, investigator Kang Soo, and unemployed gambler Jung Chang-gi, they form a team of “loser prosecutors” who fight for innocent, poor, and powerless citizens. Quite different from the mood of Emergency Couple, now we can see the charismatic Choi Jin-hyuk as a prosecutor who works in the legal department. The Heirs
The Heirs is a 2013 drama starring Lee Min-ho, Park Shin-hye, and Kim Woo-bin as the leading roles and was aired on SBS. In this drama, Choi Jin-hyuk acted as Kim Won, Kim Tan (acted by Lee Min-ho)’s older half brother. He is an accomplished and capable young executive who runs his family’s giant conglomerate. At constant friction with his family, he attempts to rule the company himself, and fears that his brother will stand in his way. Due to this, he has never had a real brotherly relationship with Kim Tan, despite the latter trying everything he can to win his brother’s heart. He is in a relationship with Jeon Hyun-joo (played by Lim Ju-eun), but later gives her up for the sake of the company. If in the previous dramas we can see many sweet moments between him and his partner, then in this drama, we’ll find more of the heartbreaking moments with his partner. Gu Family Book
The fusion martial arts action historical drama Gu Family Book is a drama about a half man-half monster who is searching for a centuries-old book that according to the gumiho legend, contains the secret to becoming a human. This drama was aired in 2013, starring Lee Seung-gi and Bae Suzy as the main characters. In this drama, Choi Jin-hyuk acted as a side character, which was Choi Kang-chi (acted by Lee Seung-gi)’s father named Gu Wol-ryung. Devilish Charm
Devilish Charm is a drama that was aired in 2018 and starred Choi Jin-hyuk, Song Ha-yoon, Lee Ho-won (Hoya ex-Infinite), and Lee Joo-yeon. The drama tells a love story of a genius doctor who suffers from “Cinderella Memory Disorder” which makes his memories of the previous day disappear at twelve o’clock and a washed-up actress. Choi Jin-hyuk acted as Gong Ma-seong, the successor of Sunwoo Group who is a doctor and chief of cranial nerve center. After a car accident when he tries to help a woman who he happens to meet, he suffers from short-term amnesia, or being called as “Cinderella Memory Disorder” and his memory does not last more than a day.
