Eric Nam who was born in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, on November 17th, 1988, is a young man who liked to upload his cover songs on his YouTube account back in the time before he debuted. Between 2011-2012, a broadcasting corporation from South Korea, MBC, invited him to Seoul to join a competition television program, Star Audition:Birth of a Great Star 2 and he secured himself a place in the Top 5 contestants after 8 months and began his career in South Korea as a solo artist under B2M Entertainment as his first agency.

Eric Nam made his debut with the title track “Heaven’s Door” included in his first solo mini-album, Cloud 9, as he became the finalist of Star Audition: Birth of A Great Star Season 2. Eric Nam signed under B2M Entertainment with the other artists, such as SS501’s Kim Kyu-jong & Heo Young-saeng, Lee Hyori, and SPICA, while the agency hinted about the singer’s upcoming debut since 2012 and he finally made his first official music video on January 23rd, 2013. On April 3rd, 2014, Eric Nam made his comeback with the release of another track, titled “Ooh Ooh.” This release was made after a year and featured Hoya, a former member of INFINITE. Beside taking Hoya as the featuring artist, this song was also composed by him. This comeback brought a brand new image after a year of Eric Nam’s debut. On March 3rd, 2015, Eric Nam released his new single titled “I’m OK.” The song tells us a story of sorrowful times from being in a relationship, sung with the angelic voice of Eric Nam. On March 22, 2016, Eric Nam came back with a new mini-album, Interview, and released the title track “Good For You.” The fans who were anticipating the singer’s comeback were all cured by his angelic voice in the new song. Can’t Help Myself

On July 14th, 2016, Eric Nam made another comeback releasing a brand new track, “Can’t Help Myself.” The music video for this comeback with the song “Can’t Help Myself” is really unique since it brought Song Hae-na as the model and the singer himself, Eric Nam, both appearing in the music video. “Can’t Help Myself” is a summer track that has been released in the middle of the year featuring rapper Loco. The lyrics were written by the rapper of the Hip-Hop group Epik High, Tablo. Eric Nam explained how the song was made with the help of Epik High’s Tablo who’s also a songwriter and founder of HIGHGRND, and that he sent over the song to work together. Eric Nam also shared about the model who is on the cover of “Can’t Help Myself,” who is actually an American girl who is a student and they spent all day while shooting for the photo shoot. The girl who became the model of the music video is named Song Hae-na and was born on January 7th, 1987, and they act really well throughout this music video.

Hold Me

On December 26th, 2017, Eric Nam released an album cover for his upcoming comeback to warm up the winter season after his previous solo single in July 2016. The official music video, released on December 27th, 2017 and the song were composed by Lee Seung-joo and written by Ji-hoon and the singer himself. Honestly

As reported from Allkpop, Eric Nam released a sneak peek for his upcoming album Honestly on March 29th, 2018. The album was the next comeback for him after 2 years following with a schedule for an American tour. On April 3rd, 2018, Eric Nam revealed his 3rd mini-album tracklist with the new teaser image. The singer himself also wrote on his social media that he will be working with American songwriter Jake Torrey. Besides working together with the songwriter, he also tagged other American singers, such as Chris Wallace, Ingrid Andress, and Rachel Siegel. Eric Nam also worked with South Korean singers, such as Epik High’s Tablo for making the lyrics for track #2 and featured Woodie Gochild and also Urban Zakapa’s Jo Hyun Ah for making the lyrics for track #3. In Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook, Eric Nam confessed that Honestly is an important album for him since he worked really hard on it and participated a lot in the making of every single track on the album. The music video for “Honestly” was set up in a deserted city and ended up with a scene where the singer is around a hot air balloon. The song has been written by him, Jake Torrey, Jay Kim, and Rachel Siegel and tells us a story about falling in love with someone but being too afraid to confess the feelings.

I Just Wanna (feat. Amber Liu)

On February 13th, 2015, F(X) Amber released an extended Play with the title Beautiful. Amber and Eric Nam have been known as best friends since the two came from America and made their debut in South Korea as idols. Eric Nam was featured in one of the tracks of Amber’s Beautiful EP, titled “I Just Wanna.” The song was actually the English version of F(X)’s song from the album Pink Tape with the original title song “Goodbye Summer.”

The original song, “Goodbye Summer,” had been released on July 29th, 2013, and Amber is the one who composed the song with NoizeBank as the music production team. Amber, Krystal, and Luna took the most part in this song and they had a guest vocalist, EXO’s D.O, to sing along in his part of this song. Dream (feat. 15&’s Park Ji-min)

On May 26th, 2015, Eric Nam made an announcement about his collaboration project with the member of duo 15& Park Ji-min as the two K-Pop stars greeted their fans with a video for their upcoming song, “Dream.” Eric Nam originally produced the song and released the track on May 28th, 2015. The song itself is titled “Dream” and is actually a song for a charity project with the music production team, Sweetune, as they wanted to help those who need help the most. Spring Love (feat. Red Velvet’s Wendy)

On March 4th, 2016, SM Entertainment uploaded the recent tracklist of SM Station project on their official YouTube channel. The music video is a project between K-Pop singer, Eric Nam, and Red Velvet’s member, Wendy. The collaboration of this project represents the spring season nuance as the two singers were having a sweet date at the amusement park as seen in the music video. “Spring Love” was the 4th release from SM Station. On January 12th, 2017, Seohyun shared the news of her 1st mini-album titled Don’t Say No. One of the tracks, “Hello,” will be featuring Eric Nam.

The duet song is a lovely and romantic tune as the two singers have sweet voices that complement each other in this song.

You, Who? (feat. Jeon So-mi)

On March 6th, 2017, Eric Nam revealed his upcoming collaboration project with a member of I.O.I, Jeon So-mi. The teaser image has been released about the two singers that will be collaborating this spring season. The date was set on March 9th, 2017, at 6 p.m. KST.
