SMTOWN Halloween Party
Every year, SM Entertainment throws one of the massive Halloween parties in South Korea. Artists, actors, comedians and MCs transform into jaw-dropping creatures on the red carpet and come together to celebrate and prank all living souls. Each year, SM artists amuse fans with their creative and unique costumes. The major highlight of the night is an annual costume challenge in which the person with the most true-to-original look and in-character skit takes the main prize home. In 2018, The artist looked stunning in their Halloween costumes. There was Leeteuk, who dressed as a maid, EXO’s Xiumin and SNSD’s Yuri as Minions, SNSD’s Taeyeon as an Annabelle, SHINee’s Key as Voldemort, and many more.
Key’s Halloween Costumes Throughout the Years
From year to year, SM Entertainment holds bigger and bigger Halloween Parties for their actresses, actors, and singers. This Halloween Party has an award for Best Dresser of the year. Every year, SHINee’s Key has been very detailed in dressing as a fictional character. Let’s take a look to appreciate his various transformations: In 2012, Key dressed as Joker from “The Dark Knight”. In 2013, he went all-out with green skin and pointed ears to portray Piccolo from from the anime “Dragon Ball.” In 2014, Key changed into the famous Edward Scissorhands. In 2015, Key was Ronald McDonald and even received recognition from McDonald’s for his hilarious costume. In 2017, He was dressed as Marge Simpson from the animated American sitcom “The Simpsons.”

The party’s best-dressed man was selected as SHINee’s Key. As his prize, he received a free trip to the Maldives.
Who’s the Person Behind the Halloween Costume?
SHINee’s Key won as best dresser at the SM TOWN Halloween Party in 2018. Key dressed up as Voldemort from the Harry Potter series, and though he was not able to attend the party due to a previous engagement, he sent a cardboard cutout of himself along with Onew. But in the end, Key came to the party. Explaining how he did the costume, Key said, “I got some advice from Park Na Rae, and her costume team did it for me.” Key also added, “At first it was for fun, and part of it was pure determination to win because I didn’t win (last time). And there’s a certain confidence you gain when you’re in costume, like you’ve become someone else.
