The 92 Line, Chanyeol and Baekhyun
In EXO, fans usually divide the members into their lines according to their birth year. The hyung (older brother) line includes the members who are the oldest: Xiumin (90-liner), Suho (91-liner), and Lay (91-liner). The next line, the beagle line, includes the members who are in the middle. All of them were born in the year 1992. They are not the oldest and not the youngest, but they are the most active and usually the noisiest, thus they resemble beagles. This line consists of Baekhyun, Chen, and Chanyeol. The last line is the maknae (youngest member) line. This line consists of the youngest members in the group: D.O. (93-liner), Kai (94-liner), and Sehun (94-liner). The beagle line are very close to each other, often cracking jokes and pulling pranks together, but Baekhyun and Chanyeol might just be a little bit closer to each other. During Chanyeol’s 2012 Birthday Party, he and Baekhyun talked to fans about their first meeting. To Chanyeol, Baekhyun is a multi-talented person who is overflowing with sense, while to Baekhyun, Chanyeol is a mischievous person with the same personality as him, whom he get along with. The underlined part would be where Chanyeol confessed that Baekhyun is like a soulmate to him while Baekhyun pointed out that Chanyeol’s ears are like Yoda’s ears.
Photo Shoot Together
Through the years, Chanyeol and Baekhyun have had several photoshoots together. Most of them have actually been done for their group’s photobooks, but they also had a photo shoot especially made just for the two of them. In 2014, EXO released their live album, EXOLOGY CHAPTER 1: ON STAGE & OFF STAGE, following the success of their first-ever tour, THE LOST PLANET. The album includes an interview where the group talks about what they feel regarding their first-ever tour, as well as some pictorials of the members in a separate photobook. What makes this photobook more interesting is the series of the pictures of Chanyeol and Baekhyun together. They look very cute in the pictures, so that some fans said that they look like they were posing for some prenuptial photos. From the photos, we can see Baekhyun and Chanyeol posing casually, but very cutely in a relaxed manner, like two best friends would do at their home. In 2016, EXO released a photobook called Dear Happiness, where they took the photos in Fiji. The theme of the photobook is vacation and between the series of photos, there are some of Chanyeol and Baekhyun posing together with their casual swimwear, complete with their swimming gear.
In early 2019, EXO released a pictorial of Baekhyun and Chanyeol’s holiday on a cruise for their EXO-L (EXO fans) in Japan. From the name you may have guessed it, but yes, this pictorial is full of just Chanyeol and Baekhyun posing together on their holiday! Also in 2019, EXO dropped another photobook called PRESENT ;gift. The photoshoot was done in Hawaii the previous year. A few cute and precious photos of Chanyeol and Baekhyun together were slipped in between all the amazing photos of the members. They were seen posing on the beach with the sunset behind them while some photos were taken, candidly playing together and even pushing each other to the water. While in Hawaii for the photoshoot, they also took a picture with some local people there.
Funny Moments Together
With both Chanyeol and Baekhyun being mischievous, they often pull pranks on the other EXO members. But more often than not, they try to crack jokes with each other, so it is not hard to find funny moments between the two of them. One of them is during !t Live: The 12th MUGI-BOX show, where they disturb each other while the other was trying to give final greeting of the show.
Another one is during the Melon Music Awards on December 2, 2017. While the other members are moving to another couch, Baekhyun and Chanyeol are the only ones left on the previous couch. Using this moment to play around with each other, they laid down on the couch like they are lying on their grandmother’s couch back at home. It’s very silly, especially at an award show, but what’s life without some crazy moments with your best friend, right?
Chanyeol and Baekhyun in Roommate
In 2014, Chanyeol participated in the variety show Roommate, where he would live together with several other celebrities in one house for a certain amount of time. In episode 13 of the show, which airs on July 27, Baekhyun visited Chanyeol at his temporary house, which actually started from a phone call from Baekhyun saying that he was bored. When Baekhyun first arrived at the house, Chanyeol was not there yet, so he was feeling a little bit awkward with the other cast, but as soon as Chanyeol arrived, Baekhyun visibly relaxed and was able to socialize better with the other members of the house.
In the episode, Baekhyun visited Chanyeol’s room before settling in the living room to talk with the other members of the house. They talked about Baekhyun’s musical Singing In The Rain and his experience with the martial art Hapkido. Chanyeol and Baekhyun in Return of Superman
In the 79th episode of the famous variety show The Return of Superman, which aired on June 14, 2015, Baekhyun and Chanyeol arrived as guests to visit the twins Seo-jun and Seo-eon. It all started because the twins’ father saw on SNS (social media) that Chanyeol wanted to come visit the twins. Chanyeol and Baekhyun played together with the twins, went to the market with them, and even fed them their meals. Chanyeol posted a photo on his personal Instagram account to reminisce about the moments. Chanyeol and Baekhyun in New York
In 2017, EXO released a mini-series, EXO Tourgram, through special broadcasting channel VLive+. The series was filmed during their journey to North America for their third world concert tour, EXO Planet 3 – The Exo’rdium. In episodes 5 and 6, Chanyeol together with Baekhyun went on an improvisational trip through the city of New York. Their first destination was to Times Square. While walking to their destination, Baekhyun talked about their habit while traveling together. Usually, Chanyeol is the one who takes care of everything, especially when they are traveling abroad. Being a person who stays at home a lot (usually called ‘homebody’), Baekhyun barely has any sense of direction, thus relying on Chanyeol a lot on their trips. Chanyeol then added that if Baekhyun just follows him and his direction, everything will be fine. Unfortunately, in the show Chanyeol seemed to have lost his sense of direction quite a bit. Relying on a digital maps application, he got confused about which way to go. Eventually, they digressed and stopped by a souvenir shop to buy ‘I Love New York’ T-shirts. Throughout the entire two episodes, Chanyeol and Baekhyun got lost often while looking for their next destinations, a Calvin Klein shop and a Starbucks coffee shop. On the contrary, it seemed that Chanyeol’s ability to lead the way became a little bit questionable by the end of the episode.
