The story begins after Yoo Ji-yeon accepts the offer and starts attracting the old man until a murder case happens in the middle of the movie’s story. The story-line is amazing, it is written by Yoon Jae-gu, who is also a director of the movie.

The Royal Tailor

The story of this movie revolves around Kim Sun-yi (played by Park Bo-young) who moves from Seoul to a small village where she eventually finds a young man who’s around 19 years old in their yard. The young man has been adopted by Kim Sun-yi’s mother and she named him Chul Soo (played by Song Joong-ki). However, it seemed strange because his blood type is unknown and he can’t speak nor read just like a normal human does. Chul Soo behaves like a wild beast, but Kim Sun-yi slowly trains him and believes that he can act normal like a human by teaching him how to wait patiently before asking for a meal, how to speak, write, wear clothes, and many things that human can do. Everything seems peaceful until Ji-tae (played by Yoo Yeon-seok), the son of the business partner of Kim Sun-yi’s late father comes from Seoul and appears in front of Kim Sun-yi and Chul Soo. Ji-tae is interested in Kim Sun-yi which makes Chul Soo jealous and he wants to protect her as she is acting annoyed in Ji-tae’s presence. One day, Ji-tae comes over and makes a fuss in front of Kim Sun-yi’s family and he tries to get rid of Chul Soo. Following his natural instinct as a beast, Chul Soo lets out his anger in order to protect Kim Sun-yi from Ji-tae and suddenly makes the whole village want to attack Chul Soo. As both of them have already opened their hearts to each other and share the same feelings, Kim Sun-yi needs to leave Chul Soo who risks his life to be with her and asks him to promise to wait for her until she comes back. At the beginning of the movie, there’s a scene of an old woman who lives in the US and receives a phone call about the sale of her old family home in South Korea. The unknown elder woman is actually Kim Sun-yi and she has finally returned to her hometown and met her granddaughter as the flashback story of her and Chul Soo was going. Kim Sun-yi is in her sixties when she finally finds Chul Soo waiting for her inside the shed as he hands her the note that she wrote 47 years ago. Chul Soo waited for so long until he met Kim Sun-yi again and she asked him to read her a book until she fell asleep. When she woke up the next day, Chul Soo wasn’t there anymore and had left the place with her granddaughter as she received a phone call asking whether she wanted to sell the property or not and Sun-yi choose to not sell the place. Chul Soo stares from afar as Sun-yi’s car drives away from the place she used to live in with her family and Chul Soo.

The drama tells the story of a certified surgeon and a person well-known as a genius, Boo Yong-joo (played by Han Suk-kyu), who used to work at Seoul’s top hospital, Geodae. One day, he gets traumatized by an incident and decides to disappear. He changes his name to Kim Sa-bu and begins to work at the small hospital, Doldam, which is located in Gangwon Province. Lee Byung-hun is the actor who played the main character Mr. Sunshine, named Choi Yoo-jin, who was born in slavery but he successfully escapes to the United States after a traumatic event during 1871 Shinmiyangnyo, the expedition from the US to Korea and he changes his name to Eugene Choi. He returns back to Joseon as a US Marine Corps officer and finally meets an aristocrat’s daughter, Go Ae-shin (played by Kim Tae-ri) who lost her parents as an infant and she trains as a sniper to join the Righteous army. In Japan, he becomes a part of a Yakuza group and names himself Ishida Sho. When he was young, he was helped by Go Ae-shin and feels gratitude toward her kindness, he grows a deep affection for her.

On December 5th, 2018, South Korean television broadcasting station, tvN, announced their new program named Coffee Friends on their official Instagram account and have set the premiere date in January 2019.
