Synopsis of Woman of Dignity
Woo A-jin (Kim Hee-sun) is from a wealthy family due to her wealthy father-in-law so she enjoys a glamorous life. One day, suddenly, Woo A-jin’s life became messy and fell apart. The reason was that her father-in-law’s finances became decimated, and her husband started to betray her. Woo A-jin is a dutiful daughter-in-law of the rich family who leads a luxurious life. But, the sudden arrival of Park Bok-ja (Kim Sun-ah) makes her life become complicated. Park Bok-ja is the new caretaker in the house to take care of the father-in-law. Park Bok-Ja has her hidden heartbreaking story and looks like a mysterious woman. She brings about fierce hardship on Woo A-jin. As the arrival of Park Bo-ja makes Woo A-jin suffer, Park Bok-ja tried to seduce the father-in-law. She has a plan to be his wife and become wealthy. The family members who learned about the situation were rejected. At the beginning of an episode, the drama showed Park Bo-ja’s death which is a mysterious case. Park Bo-ja and Woo A-jin always had an intrigue between them, but the other characters also start to be connected to Park Bo-ja’s death. So, the main suspect is still a big question. In the last episode, the mystery of Park Bok-ja’s murderer was finally revealed. Ahn Jae-gu who previously surrendered himself to the police said that he was Park Bo-ja’s murderer, but, in fact, he wasn’t the real killer. It was his son who had killed Park Bo-ja. Ahn Woon-kyu feels that Park Bo-ja ruined his family’s peace. He also did not accept it when his father and mother were threatened by Park Bo-ja. Kim Hee-sun (Angry Mom) and Kim Sun-ah (Masked Prosecutor) are two of some of the most well-beloved TV actresses in South Korea. Ending its 20-episode run on August 19, Woman of Dignity imprinted their new rating achievement with an impressive record that has never been seen before in the history of JTBC dramas. The series finale achieved a remarkable 12.065% in nationwide viewership ratings according to Nielsen Korea, breaking the record previously held by Childless Comfort for over four years and becoming the highest-rated cable drama episode so far in 2017. The melodrama now holds the record of having achieved the highest-rated series episode among JTBC dramas, beating Childress Comfort‘s (10.715%) and also surpassing Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (9.668%). It ranks first among all the cable dramas that have aired in 2017. When compared to dramas this year, Woman of Dignity‘s peak record of 12.065% comes in sixth in the ranking, overthrowing Reply 1994’s 11.90% and following Signal‘s 12.544%, 100 Days My Prince‘s 14.412% (2018), and Mr. Sunshine‘s 18.803% (2018).
