Gong Myung and Jung Hye-sung were featured on the show starting in Episode 351, which aired on December 10, 2016. The last show to feature the couple was Episode 372, which aired on May 6, 2017. This means that in all, they were a couple for about 21 weeks. That’s almost half a year! The new couple replaced the previous couple made up of Madtown’s Jota and Model Kim Jin-kyung, whose virtual marriage concluded in Episode 350. Before joining We Got Married Season 4, Gong Myung and Jung Hye-sung were already partners on My Ear’s Candy, a reality program where celebrities befriended an anonymous “Candy” over the phone as they go about their daily lives. We Got Married Season 4’s PD clarified that the couple was not cast solely because of that. However, during the pre-casting meeting ,Jung Hye-sung had named Gong Myung as their ideal type ever since the time they worked together on My Ear’s Candy. The production team also felt that their characters would be a good fit for one another. So it was a match! Want to know how it went for Gong Myung and Jung Hye-sung as a couple in We Got Married Season 4? Without further ado, let’s see some of their sweet moments below!
Gong Myung and Jung Hye-sung’s First Meeting
In the first episode, Gong Myung had to look for his destined “wife” on a cable car at the snow-covered mountains of a resort. So romantic! When they finally met, the wife wore ski goggles and was wrapped up under numerous scarves to hide her identity. She was able to communicate only through a sketchbook and asked him to guess who she was. After being given some clues, Gong Myung guessed that she was Jung Hye-sung. Correct! But because she was flustered, she lied and gestured that he was wrong. Then she asked him who was his ideal type. Without hesitation, he answered TWICE’s Jung-yeon. Ouch! That’s not a great way to start a new life together, even if it is a television marriage. Hearing his answer, Hye-sung threw the sketchbook away because she was so disappointed by his response. Jung Hye-sung then got off the cable car first and walked away from Gong Myung. She then took off the scarves and revealed herself. He was laughing when he knew that his wife was her. But she was too embarrassed and shy that she couldn’t look him in the eye. When Gong Myung asked her who her ideal type was, Jung Hye-sung shyly pointed at him and made him laugh in embarrassment. They then went into the cafe and had a chat. She suddenly smiled and looked away. He asked her why did she smile and she answered that she liked him. When she mentioned again what he’d said earlier about Twice’s Jung-yeon, he asked her one more time who she liked. She then shyly pointed at him again.
Their Proposal Event
Gong Myung asked 5urprise’s members Yoo Il, Seo Kang-joon and Kang Tae-oh to help him propose to Jung Hye-sung. The plan began with Gong Myung pretending to be sick. Kang Tae-oh then went after him to check his condition but asked Jung Hye-sung, Yoo Il and Seo Kang-joon to go on ahead. Gong Myung, Kang Tae-oh, and his manager were wearing cartoon character costumes as a disguise. They went to the proposal location first, and decorated the place with light bulbs and rose petals. Jung Hye-sung, Yoo Il and Seo Kang-joon finally arrived at the proposal location. On their way to meet Gong Myung, they met a cartoon character who recognized them and asked for handshakes. After continuing on their way for a few minutes, they met the cartoon character again. That time, the cartoon character asked for their autographs. After walking some more, they met again with what they thought was the same cartoon character! Little did Jung Hye-sung know that these cartoon characters were none other than Kang Tae-oh, Gong Myung’s manager, and Gong Myung himself. Jung Hye-sung paid no attention to the cartoon characters, as she wanted to meet Gong Myung as soon as she could. Gong Myung then pulled Seo Kang-joon aside, and asked him to lead Jung Hye-sung to the proposal location. Seeing the proposal location and the three cartoon characters, Hye-sung suddenly felt that something was weird and asked the characters if one of them was Gong Myung. After Jung Hye-sung jokingly tried to run away from the event, the three guys in costume took turns opening pages in large sketchbooks as a confession message for her. The message asked her to guess which one of them was Gong Myung, but Jung Hye-sung knew who he was right away! Sounds like true love to us… As his identity was already exposed, Gong Myung took off the costume. He put a flower crown on Jung Hye-sung’s head before presenting her with a ring and getting down on one knee. He asked her to marry him, and they put the rings on each other. As he stood up, Jung Hye-sung burst into tears of relief. She had been so worried at the thought that he was really sick!
