Facts about Bae Jin-young
Bae Jin-young has a younger sister and a younger brother. He is the oldest in his family. Bae Jin-young goes to Lila Arts High School. He was in COEX together with Lee Dae-hwi, another contestant of Produce 101, who also became a member of Wanna One. Bae Jin-young was a trainee at C9 Entertainment for 10 months. Despite starting with an F rank on Produce 101, he managed to make it into the Top 11, placing 10th with a total of 207,749 votes. Bae Jin-young is considered to have one of the best visuals, due to his small face. Netizens voted him as the 3rd most handsome contestant in Produce 101. He enjoys sports such as skiing and football. He is allergic to shrimp.
Appearance on Mnet Produce 101 Season 2
Bae Jin-young participated on Produce 101 as a contestant after only training for 10 months at C9 Entertainment. For his first assessment, he tried to leave an impression on the judges by performing EXO’s Growl. Unfortunately, he had to accept his fate and was given an F rank.
For the group battle, Bae Jin-young chose to perform Boy In Luv, which was originally sung by BTS. In the performance, he showed the audience his hidden charisma on the stage. You can watch his performance here:
After a few episodes, Bae Jin-young showed growth and improvements in his skill. For the next task, he chose to perform another BTS song, Spring Day. He also left an impression for his unique style of wearing an eye patch which, surprisingly, suited him well. You can see the performance by watching this video:
For the last task before the final voting, Bae Jin-young performed a song called Oh Little Girl. He showed the audience a fresh image and gave a much better performance than had previously done! You can watch his performance of Oh Little Girl here:
Debut as Wanna One
After a long journey full of sweat and tears, he made it as a member of Wanna One, coming in 10th as his final rank. He officially debuted with the project group during Wanna One Premier Show-Con on August 7, 2017, at the Gocheok Sky Dome with a mini-album titled 1×1=1 (To Be One). During the active period, Wanna One received various awards in various categories and got a lot of love from the public. Bae Jin-young made his final appearance as a Wanna One member in their final concert, called Therefore. The ending concert was held across four days and ended on January 27, 2019, at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, where the group also held their debut showcase.
Solo Debut
Following the disbandment of Wanna One, Bae Jin-young took a break for four months. After that, he debuted as a solo artist on April 2, 2019, by releasing a single album titled Hard to Say Goodbye. The single album peaked at no.3 on the Gaon Album Chart.
Re-Debut as CIX
Bae Jin-young’s journey towards his dream doesn’t end until there. Soon he will debut as part of the boy-group called CIX! Recently, there has been a lot of news about Bae Jin-young actively supporting other ex-contestants of Produce 101. For example, on Mnet’s TMI News, on May 23 with AB6IX’s Lee Dae-hwi and Park Woo-jin as the guest, he sent them a wreath with writing that said, “From Bae Jin-young, a guy who used to live with Woo-jin and Dae-hwi. To AB6IX, super rookies who are going to rock 2019.” This simple act surprised the two, just as Lee Dae-hwi said that it’s unusual for Bae Jin-young to send them a wreath because he’s not the type to do this kind of thing. Not only AB6IX, he also encouraged his friends from Produce 101 who are debuting as a group called LIMITLESS. This was revealed by one of LIMITLESS’s members ,A.M (Sung Hyun-woo), who’s close with Bae Jin-young at LIMITLESS’s debut showcase on July 9, 2019. Meanwhile, the group he’s currently active in, CIX, is starting to post teaser video for their debut song as their debut date comes closer.
