Hyeyeon lived in the Philippines for a year. Her hobby is baking. She can speak a little English. Hyeyeon has three dimples whenever she smiles. Gugudan Members on Produce 101
Along with Pristin and Weki Meki, Gugudan also has several members who participated on Mnet’s survival program Produce 101 Season 1. Three of them, namely Sejeong, Mina, and Nayoung were introduced as Jellyfish Entertainment’s female trainees. They put on an excellent performance of Nikki Yanofsky’s Something New in the first episode, which led them to receive rank A.
Slowly but surely, the girls gained their own fanbase. Sejeong attracted the general public with her performance of Wonder Girls’ Irony, Mina exuded her innocent charm with Apink’s I Don’t Know, and Nayoung, who rocked the stage with KARA’s Break It.
In the final episode of the show, it was announced that Sejeong and Mina would debut with I.O.I after finishing in the 2nd and 9th ranks, respectively. Nayoung returned to the agency to continue her training after being ranked 14th.
Gugudan’s Sub-Units
Almost a year after Gugudan’s debut, Jellyfish Entertainment announced the group’s first sub-unit, named Gugudan 5959, in July, 2017. The sub-unit consisted of two youngest members, Hyeyeon, who represents number five, and Mina, who represents number nine. ‘5959’ is pronounced as ‘ogu-ogu’ in Korean and became the interjection used to express someone’s cuteness, just like the youthful charm that Hyeyeon and Mina have. https://twitter.com/gu9udan/status/889998743251976192 The first concept photo for Gugudan 5959 was released on August 1, showing the youngest Gugudan members’ cheerful vibe in the summery concept. Their first digital single, Ice Chu, was released on August 10.
Gugudan has a second sub-unit, SEMINA, which was announced in late June, 2018. Initially, the Twitter account for the group shared a clip featuring a slot machine with yellow, pink, and blue flowers with the text ‘Coming Soon’, and the names of Sejeong, Mina, and Nayoung in the hashtags.

On July 3, it was announced that Gugudan SEMINA would release Getting Jealous, and the b-side track Ruby Heart, on July 10. The title of the song Getting Jealous is a play on words which sounds similar to their unit name ‘SEMINA’ in Korean.
