List of Momoland’s Discography

After the setback of their debut date, Momoland finally greeted South Korea’s music industry by releasing their first mini-album, Welcome to Momoland, on November 10, 2016. The title track JJan! Koong! Kwang! established their image as a bubbly and lively girl group.

Momoland released their first digital single, Wonderful Love, in January, 2017, and promoted the EDM version in July as a nine-member group, since Daisy and Taeha joined in April. The group promoted the song briefly before releasing their second mini-album, Freeze!. Notably, the music video for Freeze! garnered attention due to the appearance of former Wanna One member Kim Jae-hwan.

Five months later, Momoland released their third mini-album, Great!, which includes BBoom BBoom as the title track. The song successfully entered the top 10 of various music charts in South Korea and became popular overseas as well as domestically. Even so, the song was accused of plagiarizing the Spanish song Mi Mi Mi, which later was denied by its composer Shinsadong Tiger. Unquestionably, BBoom BBoom has cemented Momoland’s status as a rookie group in South Korea’s music industry.

In June, 2018, Momoland made another comeback by releasing their fourth mini-album, Fun to the World. Its title track, BAAM, is considered to be similar to BBoom BBoom, although its music video displayed the members who wear the traditional hanbok with a colorful background setting.

Not only in South Korea, Momoland has also ventured to Japan. In February, 2018, the group released a compilation album of their Korean song, which sold over 3,500 copies. Way to go, Momoland!

Momoland’s Filmography

Little did the public know that Momoland was actually formed by a survival program. In June, 2016, Mnet and Duble Kick Entertainment collaborated to create Finding Momoland. The program is participated in by ten trainees of the agency, and aimed to make a seven-member girl group. The trainees showcased their charm through several performances during the course of the show. Arguably speaking, the two most popular stages of Finding Momoland were the rendition of Girl’s Day’s Darling and SISTAR’s Loving U in the fourth episode. As both songs have the cheerful and bubbly concept, two groups, namely Honey team and Star King team, contended to steal the judges’ attention.

Led by the youngest trainee, Nancy, Honey team also included Yeonwoo, JooE, Ahin, and Daisy. Honey team successfully nailed their mission as they performed Girl’s Day’s Darling with a sweet-tempered and playful charisma.

On the other hand, Star King team was led by Hyebin and included Jane, Nayun, Shin Sia, and Heejae as its members. While the group concluded the performance with a similar cheerful and bubbly aura, the members of Star King were more noticeably nervous backstage. They also had problems dancing with high heels. Nonetheless, its leader, Hyebin, received praise from the judges, as she seemed to give the best performance of the group. Later on, Finding Momoland concluded its finale with seven members, namely Hyebin, Yeonwoo, Jane, Nayun, Ahin, JooE, and Nancy.

For the first time ever, Momoland has their own reality show, Momoland’s Saipan Land. The program was aired on MBC Every 1 and ran for five episodes. Through the show, the fans were able to see how Momoland had fun during their holiday in Saipan, Japan.

Momoland also made a brief appearance on tvN’s musical drama The Liar and His Lover. In the drama, which starred by Red Velvet’s Joy and Lee Hyun-woo, Momoland members acted as the trainees who are preparing for their debut.

Momoland’s Awards and Nominations

A year into their debut, Momoland successfully gained recognition in South Korea’s music industry by winning several awards as rookies. Later on, the group snatched tons of awards after their mega-hit song BBoom BBoom successfully topped the music chart. The countless achievements are certainly rewarding for the nine members of the group, as some of them have trained hard for years, as well as their fans (Merry-Go-Round) who have been supporting them since their early days.
