Joo Woo-jae’s Cameo in Come and Hug Me
In 2018, Joo Woo-jae made an appearance in the Korean drama Come and Hug Me. He was a cameo as the character Kang Yoon-sung, an opponent cast of the same romance movie as Han Jae-yi’s (Jin Ki-joo). There was an episode where Han Jae-yi and Kang Yoon-sung were doing a hugging scene. It was bad timing for Chae Do-jin (Jang Gi-yong) who happened to come and coincidentally look at the hugging scene. He couldn’t help but feel jealous to see his first love hugging another man even though it was only acting.
Joo Woo-jae Talks About Red Velvet’s Irene
On December 3rd, 2016, Joo Woo-jae and other celebrities, were guests in an On Style Laundry Day talk show, where Red Velvet’s Irene became a permanent guest. At the beginning of the show, as cited by Koreaboo, the MC Noh Hong-chul asked about what it’s like to be a guest on the show. Joo Woo-jae confidently answered, “First, I’m really glad I got to see Irene,” followed by the other guest, Heo Ji-woon who was happy to see Irene every week. Joo Woo-jae also mentioned he’s a fan of Red Velvet. Then he said that he had met Irene before the show. It was a music award event where he was a presenter for the Music Video of the Year Award (Red Velvet was the winner). He became curious about Irene since he’s a fan too. When he was asked about what he wanted to ask her, he said “‘How could you be so pretty?’ something like this,” suddenly becoming shy.
Several weeks later, on January 12th, 2017, Joo Woo-jae was a guest in Hyeoyeon’s own reality television show, Hyeoyeon’s 10 Million Likes in episode 4. Hyeoyeon said that she invited one more friend that day who is a dongsaeng (younger person). They played some kind of guessing game and when Joo Woo-jae guessed about a girl group, he immediately said Red Velvet and Baro replied with “Irene!” You can watch the clip below, they start guessing the identity of the other guest from minute 1:35.
Joo Woo-jae and BLACKPINK
Aside from being Red Velvet’s fan, he is apparently a fan of BLACKPINK too. He posted a picture on his Instagram account, showing his fanboy side. In the picture, it shows that the album is handwritten signed by Blackpink members, “Woo-jae oppa” and two hearts beside it. As cited by Allkpop, Joo Woo-jae also wrote a caption, “So I got BLACKPINK’s autographed album but whatever… I’m not sure if it’s that great…” It might sound like he was really cool about it but he added a hashtag “I’m walking down the street nowㅠㅠ BLACKPINK Fowey Crossroadsㅠㅠ Woo-jae Oppa two heartsㅠㅠ,” and a video. In the video, we can hear he’s listening to BLACKPINK’s Whistle from the back seat of his van. He first looked at the album sincerely then hug it passionately with eyes closed.
