In 2015, Source Music created the popular South Korean girl group GFriend. The group consists of 6 members, Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji. The girl group made their debut with the extended play Season of Glass on January 15th, 2015. GFriend won several female rookie awards in 2015 and has risen to stardom since the group debut despite being from a small company.On July 23rd, 2015, GFriend released their second EP Flower Bud and the music video for the title track “Me Gustas Tu.” The group garnered international attention after a fan-cam video of GFriend members trying their hardest to complete the performance of “Me Gustas Tu” despite continuously falling on a slippery stage went viral in September 2015. The group gained attention and was praised for their professionalism, especially the vocalist of the group, Yuju, who fell a total of eight times and suffered a twisted finger during the performance.On February 2nd, 2016, their new song “Rough,” gained GFriend their first-ever music show win on the music show The Show. They subsequently won another fourteen awards on all of the music show programs, including their first triple crown win on major music show programs, M Countdown, Music Bank, Show Champion, and Inkigayo. MIO (stylized sometimes as Mi.O) was a vocal group under Source Music. The group officially debuted on December 14th, 2005. They are songwriters, producers, and also vocal trainers. The members of the group were also known for not revealing their faces at first, instead, they chose to wear certain superhero masks. The members of the group consisted of, Iron Man (Jang Jung-woo), Hulk (Lee Jung-wook), and Captain America (Ryu Saeng-hwan).Since they debuted, the group has released several songs and official music videos: “To Buy a House” (집을 사야해), “Red Lie” (새빨간 거짓말), “Full Of Tears” (눈물이 차올라), “Any Day” (하루라도), and “This Song” (이 노래가).
Kan Mi-youn
After Source Music was founded on November 17th, 2009, by So Sung-jin, the label released its first digital single of solo singer Kan Mi-youn titled “Going Crazy” in 2010. The music video of the song featured Lee Joon and Mir from MBLAQ.Kan Mi-youn is a South Korean singer, actress, radio host, model, fashion designer, and businesswoman. She was a member of the first generation South Korean girl group Baby V.O.X. who debuted in October 1997. The group became one of the most popular girl groups at the time. After the group disbanded in February 2006, Kan Mi-youn became a solo artist. In May 2014, Kan Mi-youn signed a contract with Mako Amusement to support both her musical and acting career.
Eden Beatz
Eden Beatz was a duo vocal group under Source Music Entertainment. The duo consisted of Eden and J.Rise. On September 20th, 2012, the group debuted and released their first mini-album, which only had 3 songs and instrumental versions.In 2015 they also released a single called “Playground” featuring Btob’s Hyun-sik, who is a close friend of Eden Beatz’s member, Eden.After the group disbanded in 2015, Eden pursues his career as an R&B singer, composer, producer, and songwriter and joined KQ Entertainment.
8Eight (2007–2014, co-managed by Big Hit Entertainment)
8Eight was a South Korean co-ed singing trio consisting of Baek Chan, Lee Hyun, and Joo Hee. As of December 21st, 2014, the group was deemed disbanded, as Baek Chan’s and Joo Hee’s contracts with Big Hit Entertainment had expired.
Lee Hyun
Lee Hyun is a South Korean singer. He debuted in 2007 as a member of the co-ed vocal group 8Eight, which disbanded in 2014. He was born on November 8th, 1983. He was also a member of the disbanded vocal duo Homme from 2010 to 2018. He is currently pursuing a career as a solo artist under Big Hit Entertainment.
Glam (2012–2015, co-managed by Big Hit Entertainment)
In 2012, Source Music and Big Hit Entertainment collaborated and formed a girl group called Glam. The group consisted of 5 members, Dahee, Trinity, Zinni, Miso, and Jiyeon. However, Trinity withdrew from the group before the group’s debut due to personal reasons. Glam officially debuted on July 16th, 2012, with the release of their first single, “Party (XXO).” They released another song, “The Person I Miss,” in the same year for the soundtrack of the Korean drama, Five Fingers.The group was active until 2014 and was disbanded after a member, Dahee, was found guilty and was sentenced to one year in prison for the case of blackmailing actor Lee Byung-hun. At that time, Glam’s contract with Big Hit Entertainment ended. The members did not want to renew their contracts, partly due to the Dahee’s scandal.Before officially debuting, Glam was featured on 2AM’s song “Just Me,” from the boy band’s album, Saint o’Clock in 2010. Glam and BTS were also featured artists on Lee Hyun’s song “Bad Girl,” from his album, You Are Best of My Life in 2011.
