Yet despite it, he still manages to score more than 14 movie roles and 20+ roles on various dramas. At the age of 42, Oh Ji-ho has chosen to spend more time as a family man with his wife and daughter but that does not mean that his career is slowing down anytime soon.
Oh Ji-ho’s Profile and Career
Name: Oh Ji-Ho Hangul: 오지호 Birthdate: April 14, 1976 Birthplace: Mokpo, South Jeoulla-do Province, South Korea Height: 183cm
At the tender age of 22, Oh-Jiho made his way to Seoul to fulfill his dream of being an actor. The Mokpo-native was first contracted as a mere commercial model but managed to snag a role in the movie Kka [Being Naked] (1998) as an extra. His breakout role proved to be futile for a few years, with a few minor appearances in movies that did not lead him to any starring roles. His career on TV however proved to be more successful, with Oh Ji-ho slowly gaining status as a ripped heartthrob that charms his way into the heart of avid viewers through his stunning visuals. This new status elevated him into another level of popularity among fans but critics thought otherwise, undermining his skill in acting. The few speed bumps along his career finally led him to the role that gained him recognition, the second male lead role in the TV series A Second Proposal (2004). Through his first leading role, he took home the Best Supporting Actor Award from KBS Drama Awards. This successful casting was followed through by others such as a starring role in Couple or Trouble (2006), which drew in high ratings and brought him two more awards for his acting. He starred in a few more notable dramas such as Get Karl! Oh Soo-jung (2007) and Single Dad in Love (2008) as the starring role but those dramas sadly pulled in inconsistent ratings. In 2012, Oh Ji-ho set his views on a more challenging role in China-Japan-South Korea co-produced series titled Stranger 6. This venture is the first time he has ever starred in a foreign production that aired in a network abroad. By 2016, his career has slowed down to match his marital developments, yet he still finds the time to star in a couple semi-regular roles. Joining the cast of The Superman Returns with his daughter Seo-heun marks his comeback onto the spotlight.
