In December 2019, Gugudan’s Kim Sejeong got some malicious comments during a live stream. During the Vlive on Gugudan’s official channel, Sejeong happened to read a comment that said, “You look like a puppet K-Pop idol, who dances and sings for making money.” Sejeong calmly replied: “What’s wrong with dancing and singing to make money? People need to make money. However, I’m good, right? Cool and beautiful. I’m proud of myself.” She continued, “Don’t you think it’s cool to make money by dancing and singing coolly and beautifully?”Her fellow member also got some malicious comments when doing a Vlive. This time, it came from Sejeong’s akgae. The hateful remarks stated, “Stop blocking Kim Se Jung’s way and get lost,” “I’m only waiting for Kim Se Jung’s solo,” “All of you b*es f off and let SeJeong debut on her own!” etc. The members did their best to ignore the malicious comments but their faces revealed that they were having a hard time doing so.
GOT7’s Jackson

But then, haters started leaving comments in Chinese saying that Jackson should leave GOT7 and return to China.Jackson replied to the comment in Chinese by saying, “When I do some things, a lot of people like it, but also a lot of people don’t like it. Hate comments just make me stronger. To all the people who don’t like me: I’m going to work harder and become stronger. Every time you write hate comments, I work harder. Thank you.” He also said in Korean that he’s going to work harder and succeed. “I’m just going to work hard as GOT7’s Jackson, and succeed as GOT7’s Jackson. A person’s mouth is their own, and you can’t stop what they say. So I don’t really have anything to say against that. I just have to keep working hard as GOT7’s Jackson. I’ll work hard and succeed.”Watch the Vlive response, here: https://www.vlive.tv/video/37052During the Vlive with Young-jae and Jin-young, Jackson received a comment that said, “When Jackson speaks in Korean, he still sounds ching.” Ching here refers to Ching Cong which signifies an onomatopoeic mimicry representing Asian otherness.
