He is the only child in his family. JB is born on January 6, 1994. He was born in Goyang city, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. His father, Im Taek-geun, is a former anchorman. JB says he cant do aegyo, but he does do it to his parents. JB was a former B-boy. JB had his first kiss when he was 13. He became a JYP trainee in 2009, after winning 1st place at the JYP Open Auditions. Both JB and Jinyoung won first place at the open audition. He was a trainee for 2.5 years before his debut. Aside from promoting with the JJ Project and GOT7, JB has also been featured as an actor in some dramas. He played a role in the dramas Dream High 2 and When A Man Falls In Love. He has also appeared as an actor in a short web-series called Dream Knight alongside his fellow GOT7 members. He participated in the 1st season of the show The Romantic and Idol.
