Nine Muses to Nine Muses A: The History
2010: Debut
Nine Muses debuted on August 12th, 2010, with the final line up of HyunA, Rana, Bini, Lee Sem, Eunji, Sera, Euaerin, Hyemi, and Minha. All the members have a modelling background, and most of the Nine Muses members were active models by the time they debuted. Nine Muses debuted with the album Let’s Have a Party and promoted the title track No Playboy.
2011: Figaro Comeback
In 2011, there were several member changes in the group when Bini, Rana and Euaerin left the group. But soon after, Euaerin rejoined the group as her plan didn’t work. Nine Muses made their first comeback a year later with 7 members promoting the single Figaro. At that time, the company thought about changing the group’s name to Sweet Candy because the group no longer had 9 members. But, the plan was cancelled and the group is still going with the original name, Nine Muses.
2012-2015: Major Member Changes
Considering their graduation concept, it’s natural for the group to go through member changes. Kyungri and Sungah joined the group in 2012 when several members graduated. From 2012 to 2015, there were major changes in the members. Lee Sem, Eunji, Sera, Euaerin, Minha, and Hyuna left the group because of various reasons. In that span of time, Nine Muses released many popular songs and rose to be one of the most popular girl groups in South Korea. Their fourth mini-album Lost is the last project of Nine Muses.
2016: Introduction of Nine Muses A
Nine Muses was left with 5 members: Sungah, Gyeongree, Hyemi, Sojin, and Keumjo. At that time, their management announced that Sungah will be on hiatus but Nine Muses will still proceed with a new sub-group called Nine Muses Amuse or Nine Muses A with the remaining members. Nine Muses A debuted with the album Muses Diary in August 2016. The group consists of Kyungri (Center), Hyemi (Leader), Sojin (Rapper) and Keumjo (Main Vocal).

Kyungri was born in Busan, South Korea. She has an older sister. Kyungri often looks at photographs of models and watches movies in her spare time. Kyungri has no ideal type of man. In an interview, Kyungri said that she’s obsessed with singer Yoon Jong-shin. She said that the song “Tears Are Falling Heavily” is so good, and when Park Jung-shin sang it, she was amazed. Her motto in life is “Whatever you do, smile and enjoy”. She often thinks that she is lively, timid and easy-going. Her role model is BoA. Sojin’s specialty is creating and copying choreography. Her nickname is Black Hole. She originally debuted as a member of NASTY NASTY. She is one of the last members to join Nine Muses with Keumjo. Sojin was Bighit Entertainment’s trainee with Gfriend’s SinB. She went to the same dance academy as Jewelry’s Semi and Nine Muses’ Hyemi. Sojin is shy, but when she’s on stage, she is charismatic. Her waist is really thin; it’s only 20.5 inches. Sojin likes to knit, play the piano, and browse YouTube videos in her spare time. Her ideal type is someone is someone who looks nice, has strong eyes, is faithful and is attentive. She was cast in the Chinese web-drama Canvas the Emperor. It was her first acting debut. Her thoughts about debuting: “Debut… I can’t believe it… Memories of my trainee days that I’ve done for five years only thinking about the debut day are passing through my head. One of the last members to join Nine Muses. Sexy guys are her ideal type. Keumjo is a model. She’s the only member who has a height below 170 cm. Keumjo appeared in V.O.S’s MV “The End”. Keumjo doesn’t like fruit. She only likes strawberries and green grapes. Her thoughts about debuting: “I still can’t believe it… To have my dream [of debuting] finally come true… I will work hard as I’ve desperately and eagerly wanted it.
