Ji-soo is known as a former JYP actor trainee. He was a semifinalist in 2012 JYP’s open audition, in which he auditioned for the acting segment and got second place for acting out a scene from “The Moon that Embraces the Sun”. He had already done some modeling before his acting debut. Ji-soo once had a part time job to earn pocket money, he was a part-timer at coffee shop. He went to a high school and high school only for male students, and was not very popular until he joined the hip-hop club of the school presenting “Confession” by Dynamic Duo. He spoke broadly in an interview about his inclination towards acting as far back as he could remember. He was in love with Judo to the extent that he became quite serious about making a career in the sport during his early teenage, but somehow, during his middle school days, he fell in love with performing arts, and dropped judo completely. Ji-soo got his start as a musical actor. In middle school, he followed a friend, who was studying acting, to his acting school and learned to act himself. He got involved in the theater his acting teacher had established, and started acting for an audience. He started acting during the high school days itself, and appeared in a few theatre productions at that time, such as “The Dreamers”, “Monsters” and the “13th Hero”. Along with that, he also kept honing his acting skills through appearing in several low to zero budget short films such as “Beastie Boys” and “Boy in Pain”.
