Actress Kim Ga-yeon and former pro-gamer Lim Yo-hwan first met in 2008 at a sports event, and started a relationship even though he is eight years younger than her. In 2011, the couple registered their marriage. Ga-yeon and Yo-hwan held their official wedding ceremony after 5 years of their marriage. Their official wedding was held privately in the Grand Ballroom at the Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel on May 8th, 2016, and it was officiated by Yoo Jae-suk, who is a good friend of Kim Ga-yeon.
Her husband, Lim Yo-hwan is a former professional player of the real-time strategy computer game StarCraft. He is known by the ID SlayerS_BoxeRusually shortened to BoxeR and widely considered to be one of the most successful players of the genre as well as an esports icon.
When he was active as a pro-gamer, they couldn’t have an official wedding ceremony because their timing was off and Ga-yeon also got pregnant. However, after going through some situations, they were finally able to hold their official wedding ceremony.
In 2012, Lim Yo-hwan had some major health concerns. He announced that due to his elbow hurting for over a year and a half, he would be taking a break to rehabilitate. However, in September 2013 things only got worse when he announced that he left his game positions due to health complications and effectively retired from the eSports.

Funded Her Husband’s eSport Team
Kim Ga-yeon revealed to have invested money into her husband’s eSports team SlayerS. She said that she put 500 million Korean won, or $447,000 USD, bought all of the computers, monitors, one training facility, and one house for Yo-hwan before their marriage. According to her, it was because they needed a place to practice. It was not an investment, but rather, the best she could do for a person that she loves.

In episode 286 of Running Man, Kim Ga-yeon appeared as a guest. The episode featured a Sherlock Holmes style mission where the members were required to find the culprit who stole a precious diamond necklace. Ga-yeon acted as a resort’s owner and her precious diamond necklace which was worth about 20 billion won was stolen. The members were given four hours before the police arrived, to find the culprit. The case got even more complicated with the name tag removal. Some clues indicated that a woman was involved, and they were throwing suspicion on Song Ji-hyo. Lee Kwang-soo was also being suspected for his suspicious invitation.
