The couple were co-stars in MBC Drama Glamorous Temptation. They were reportedly dating by the end of March 2016, after the drama ended. In March 2017, both Joo Sang-wook and Cha Ye-ryun’s agencies stated that the couple would marry in May, but the exact date had not yet been decided. A few days before, Cha Ye-ryun caught the bouquet in S.E.S.’s Bada’s wedding and it drew a fair amount of attention. As we know already, catching the wedding bouquet is a well-known superstition with the belief that whoever catches it would be the next to marry. At the end of April 2017, the couple announced their wedding date which was on May 25, 2017. Ahead of their wedding, the couple headed over to Lāna’i, Hawai’i for a wedding photo shoot. It was their first time participating in a photo shoot together. At the party was the singer Wax, actress Hwang Shin-hye, actress Park Jung-ah, Brown Eyed Girl’s JeA and designer Lee Ju-yeon, and more in attendance. Joo Sang-wook, the groom-to-be also showed up in the bridal shower party. Cha Ye-ryun posted a photo on her Instagram and wrote “Thank you for preparing such a beautiful place for me like this unnie. A small and quaint party. A happy time. 100 times moved”. On May 25, 2017, Joo Sang-wook and Cha Ye-ryun held a press conference before their wedding ceremony at the Grande Walkerhill Hotel in Gwangjang-dong in Seoul. The wedding was held in private with those who were close to the couple’s family. In the press conference, Joo Sang-wok revealed that he started thinking about marriage when he saw Cha Ye-ryun cooking and also cleaning up in his kitchen. He thought that he could live happily for the rest of his life if he was married to someone like her. Cha Ye-ryun also opened up about their wedding preparations. She said that she decided to prepare for her special day all on her own, without the assistance of a wedding planner because that was their first step in creating future together and she said she wanted to personally prepare for their big day.
