Uncontrollably Fond: Review

First, let’s take a look at the synopsis and final thoughts about the drama! Basically, Uncontrollably Fond was about Shin Joon-young (played by Kim Woo-bin), a famous actor who struggled with a disease. Because he was famous, everything that he did was always watched by everyone, especially his fans, but he was trying hard to keep his illness a secret. From the beginning of the series, it was clear how Shin Joon-young was struggling against his disease and hiding it. Even though he looked like someone who was an arrogant, cold, ignorant, manly person, deep down he was suffering due to his disease. He was diagnosed with a tumor, and the doctors said he only had about three months left to live. The other main character was Noh Eul (played by Bae Suzy), who was an unpopular PD who has known Shin Joon-young since both of them were still in High School. Their story began when Noh Eul’s father the victim of a hit-and-run accident. Her father was hit by Jeong Eun, a daughter from the party’s leadership at that time. Jeong Eun asserted that she wasn’t guilty, with the help of Choi Hyun-joon. Choi Hyun-joon was a famous prosecutor, and also Shin Joon-young’s father. People recognized him as a skilled and wise prosecutor, but he helped Jeong Eun run away and falsified the records about who perpetrated the hit-and-run. At the time, Shin Joon-young didn’t know what his father was doing, but Noh Eul did. She hated Shin Joon-young and his father and wanted to get revenge by destroying Choi Hyun-joon’s reputation in front of people. Shin Joon-young knew about her plan and tried to save his father because he didn’t know the true story. Finally, Shin Joon-young thwarted Noh Eul’s plan, but he ended up hurting her. After Shin Joon-young found out the true details of the case, he regretted his intervention and gave up his dream of becoming a prosecutor. Since then, neither Shin Joon-young nor Noh Eul had been in contact with each other. Time goes by, and Shin Joon-young and Noh Eul meet again, as adults. Shin Joon-young was becoming a popular actor and Noh Eul was becoming an unpopular PD. When Shin Joon-young encountered Noh Eul again, he knew that his life couldn’t stay the same any longer, and he wanted to make Noh Eul happy for the rest of his life, so he started looking for the real perpetrator of the accident that took Noh Eul’s father. Through the course of a lot of interaction and frequent seeing each other, as well as their personal stories, eventually, Shin Joon-young and Noh Eul fell in love to each other, just like the old times. The worst part was that when the two of them finally made peace with their past, Shin Joon-young couldn’t stay with Noh Eul, even when Noh Eul finally found who was really responsible for her father’s accident.
