After the drama Goblin in 2017, Gong Yoo hadn’t taken any another projects in dramas or movies. On August 3, 2018, his management confirmed his comeback in an upcoming film. The agency stated that Gong Yoo was offered a role in the movie Seo Bok (literal title). This will be his first movie since The Age of Shadows, was released in 2016. The movie will be directed by Lee Yong Joo, the director of the hit movie Architecture 101. The movie is planned to be released in the second half of this year. Because of his worldwide impact with Goblin and Train to Busan, Gong Yoo will be the first person to participate at the K Star Theater Project in Hong Kong. The K Star Theater Project is held to increase awareness of Korean cinema abroad. The ‘Gong Yoo Theater’ will take place in Hong Kong, at CGV Cinemas D2 Place, in September, with a total of 128 seats. The profits will be donated to support the developing Hong Kong independent film industry. Gong Yoo shared his thoughts: “Thank you very much for the ‘Gong Yoo Theater’ in CGV Cinemas D2 Place in Hong Kong. It’s an honor to contributed in such a meaningful project. I would like to take this opportunity to make time for many films to be exchanged in Hong Kong.” said Gong Yoo through his agency. Besides any acting projects, Gong Yoo also works as the ambassador for some brands. On August 10, 2018, Gong Yoo attended an opening event for the furniture brand ‘Illoom’, that held in Goyang, Gyeongsang-do. On August 31, 2018, Gong Yoo also attended the Discovery Expedition Showcase 2018 F/W at Seongdong-gu, Seoul. He looked wearing a down jacket to the showcase. Gong Yoo has been a model for Discovery Expedition for years, and his look fits their concept well. Well, seems like we have to wait a little more to see him in the movies and dramas. We’ll be waiting for you, Gong Yoo!
