Rare Disease
As reported from Allkpop on October 4th, 2017, Yoon Seo had one of her lungs removed in surgery after it was detected she had a rare disease. A scene from the variety show I Came Alone that aired on October 3, 2017, as a special broadcast on KBS2’s Chuseok revealed that the actress was going to have a surgery that could threaten her life. Yoon Seo went on a trip to Okinawa, Japan, with rapper Hanhae, and they walked around the seaside. At that time, Hanhae asked if she is happy with her life right now, and she answered, “Yes, I’m happy.” Yoon Seo expressed how she is so grateful by saying, “I was really sick about 3 months ago and after a big surgery. One of my lungs has been removed, and it only left one. The surgery was life-threatening for me, and I almost died. I thought that everything is meaningless back then because the doctor said I have a rare disease, and there was no name for the illness.” The actress continued that she had a blood vessel near her lungs that grew defectively, and it was there since birth. Yoon Seo had no idea until the illness was detected, but she is all cured after the surgery was completed. Yoon Seo also explained that she couldn’t work or do any activities normally before she went for surgery because she was suffering from the illness, and compared to her current condition, she feels better and is healthier than before. In 2016, Yoon Seo joined the cast of the drama Person Who Gives Happiness, but due to her personal illness, she had to withdraw with the project.

Back then, when she starred on the drama Entertainer, she played the role of Lee Ji-young, a member of the idol group Twinkle. Yoon Seo originally debuted as an actress but also trained her dancing and singing skills, too. She was planned to debut as an idol in Wellmade Yedang’s new girl group. As reported by Soompi on July 31st, 2016, Wellmade Yedang announced that they will debut a new girl group, stating, “We can’t give any further information and details about the members, concept, and when they will debut, but Yoon Seo and her labelmate Lee Sun-bin will debut in one group.” Wellmade Yedang continued by saying that Yoon Seo has been practicing hard to debut as an idol for more than a year to achieve her goals and to perform with her talent.
