Crayon Pop is a female idol group from South Korea that debuted in 2012. They originally had five members formed by Chrome Entertainment, and they were Geum-mi, El-lin, Cho-a, Way, and So-yul. Their debut single was titled “Saturday Night” and appeared on their first EP Crayon Pop 1st mini-album. In general, this album cannot be declared a great success. Then, they released another single which was subsequently released and even got a less successful review from the public. But, the group still produced their songs, and Crayon Pop released their first digital album in October 2012 titled Dancing Queen. In the end, the new image of Crayon Pop in 2013 made them more successful than before. The single “Bar Bar Bar” with silly clothes and unique features on their costumes such as helmets made them known to the Korean public. Crayon Pop’s success with “Bar Bar Bar” gave them various awards such as the New Rising Star, Hot Trend Award, and Best New Female Artist. “Bar Bar Bar” ranked number 1 the Billboard’s Top 100 Korean songs after eight consecutive weeks in the top 10. But, in May 2017, Soyul was confirmed to be leaving the group. A representative of Chrome Entertainment released a statement saying, “So-yul will leave the group, and El-ling, Gum-mi, Way, and Cho-a will continue to run promotions as a group, Crayon Pop. We will continue the schedule and album accordingly.” Previously, So-yul had to stop her activities even though the idol group had just made a comeback with the release of the new EVOLUTION POP album. It was revealed that the idol experienced panic attacks that were getting worse when doing their track promotion for “Doo Doom Chit” in 2016. So-yul is the youngest and most calm member among all the members. She is the sub vocalist from Crayon Pop, but she decided to stop her career and become a good wife and mother. Details About Soyul’s Marriage
Moon Hee-jun announced that he intended to marry So-yul in November 2016 through his official fan page. This news was certainly very surprising because there were never suspicions or hints that the two were dating. On February 12, 2017, So-yul and Moon Hee-jun held a wedding at the Shilla Hotel. Their wedding was attended by a series of celebrities such as Yoo Jae Suk, Kim Jong Kook, Kangta, and others. The reaction of some netizens did not support the marriage because So-yul was 13 years younger than Moon Hee-jun, and, according to Korean netizens, their age gap was too far. In addition, a controversy arose when three months after the wedding Moon Hee-jun and So-yul gave their latest news. As reported by Soompi, the two K-pop stars would soon become a father and mother because they were blessed with a daughter. Soyul’s pregnancy news was actually predicted by netizens when Moon Hee-jun announced their marriage suddenly. But, at that time, both of them denied that they were getting married because So-yul was pregnant, commonly called a shotgun marriage. Later, they revealed another fact. Because they were so busy preparing for the wedding and becoming parents, it turned out that Moon Hee-jun had even forgotten to propose to So-yul properly. Moon Hee-jun reasoned, “Because we were always together when preparing for the marriage,” he said on Dad’s True Colors. Closer to the wedding, Moon Hee-jun finally proposed to So-yul. “I invited So-yul to eat fried chicken on the banks of the Han river, not in a fancy restaurant,” said Moon Hee Jun. A romantic situation waked up when Moon Hee Jun showed a video containing a collection of their old photos until, finally, he asked, “Will you marry me?” After being proposed to, So-yul gave the casual response, “I thought I would not be proposed to, but it turns out you do that, too.”
Learn More About His Husband, Moon Hee-jun
Moon Hee-jun is 13 years older than So-yul and was born on March 14, 1978. He is a former idol and was the leader of H.O.T, a first generation K-pop group under SM Entertainment. Moon Hee-jun now is a pop-rock singer-songwriter signed under SidusHQ. He started his entertainment carrier in 1996, making his group legendary among the present groups. Moon Hee-jun had a unique appearance with colorful hair such as blonde, purple, and orange with his iconic hairstyle. Both Moon Hee-jun and So-yul apparently were dating since 2013 and were discovered by the public in 2016.
Their Daughter
3 months after their marriage. So-yul and Moon Hee-jun got their first child. Their daughter was born on May 12, 2017. Both mother and daughter are healthy. On a variety program, Moon Hee Jun jokingly said, “My daughter will look really great in a helmet, too.” When asked why, he reasoned, “Because her mother looks great in a helmet.” His statement made the whole studio laugh, and he added, “They’ll be the best looking mother-and-daughter pair at the ski resort.” A year after the birth, the family took family pictures with May Kim Studio. The company representative who took the pictures said, “Their daughter is a lovely baby with a lot of luck and charm” that the official credited to her parents.
