The members were first introduced to the public through the Pentagon Maker survival event. Even though there were initially only seven members selected, including Jinho, Hui, Hongseok, Yeo-One, Yuto, Kino and Wooseok, they still ultimately included three previously-eliminated members, E’dawn, Shinwon, and Yan-An. In 2018, amid their success with the song ‘Shine’, one member was forced to leave because he was fired by the agency. The member is E’dawn, who was hit by a dating scandal with fellow Cube artist, Hyuna. After E’dawn’s departure on November 14, 2018, Pentagon officially became a nine-member group. Then, Yan-An decided to temporarily leave, so Pentagon continued working with only eight members.
