In Red Velvet, Yeri is the youngest among the members. She joined SM Entertainment as a trainee in 2011 and became part of SM Rookies. Even though she is still very young, she has stolen a lot of attention even before she debuted. Putting Yeri into Red Velvet seemed to be too good to be true. Because of her role as a maknae, the entire group looks more lovely because she has such a lovable character. When Red Velvet became the guest star on ‘Weekly Idol’ in August, 2018, the 3 members seemed very cohesive, calling Yeri “SM Princess” when they were asked about how each of the member figured in their eyes. Joy wrote that Yeri was a scary sister. She also wrote that she was jealous of Yeri’s image as a maknae, which allowed her to say and do anything she wanted. Then Wendy called Yeri “a free soul”, while Seulgi repeaed that Yeri had everything the way she wanted. Last, Irene only answered that Yeri was her sister. It seemed that Irene loves Yeri a lot after the fun fact between them has been revealed. In ‘Weekly Idol’, Irene also said that she was the one who often ironed Yeri’s school uniform during her school years. Even the group’s fans often call them a mother and daughter. Before debuting as a member of Red Velvet, Yeri had been a trainee in SM Entertainment since she was still in 5th grade of Elementary School. In 2015 they had a comeback with a song called Ice Cream Cake, and returned with Yeri as their fifth member. When SM announced that Red Velvet would be returning with a new member, fans were shocked and curious about Yeri. After the promotions for Ice Cream Cake came to an end, Yeri became a host of MBC’s music program Show! Music Core, along with Shinee’s Minho and VIXX’s N from May 9, 2015, to November 14, 2015.

Dear Diary is relatively simple, and puts its focus on Yeri’s voice. Free from the shadows of Red Velvet’s bombastic and cheerful music, it’s a pleasure to focus on Yeri’s sweet tone.
