Somin first debuted in 2012 as a member of Puretty, the Japanese girl group under the label currently known as DSP Media. The group was disbanded in 2014. She was a “Baby KARA” contestant, and finished in 2nd place. Still under the same agency, Somin debuted with DSP Media’s girl group April in August 2015. But, because she wanted to try out new music, she decided to leave the group in November. Somin then officially debuted with KARD on July 19, 2017. In KARD, Somin represents the letter R and the Black jokeR. Somin appeared in Epik High’s “Born Hater” MV. Somin has two older sisters. She graduated from Seokyeong University. Her hobbies are watching movies, listening to music, and running. Somin can play musical instruments such as the piano, the violin, and the ocarina. She speaks Korean and Japanese. She is the shortest member of KARD. She is close to Twice’s Jeongyeon, and Seventeen’s Mingyu and Seungkwan. During the V Live broadcast, Somin once revealed that she is a fan of HyunA.
