Girls’ Generation Sub-unit OH!GG
After Jessica left SNSD (Sonyeosinade), or Girls’ Generation, in 2016 and ended her contract with SM Entertainment, Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Seohyeon, decided to leave Girls’ Generation too and ended their contracts with SM Entertainment on October 9, 2017. After the three members left, the label announced that Girls’ Generation had not disbanded and would be continuing their work with the rest of the members who were still under SM Entertainment.
On August 27, 2018, SM Entertainment announced that the rest of the Girls Generation members would be making a comeback with a new sub-unit, and unveiled Girls’ Generation – Oh!GG as the group’s second unit. The new sub-unit would consist of five members: Taeyeon, Hyeyeon, Sunny, Yuri, and Yoona. The sub-unit group was debuted officially with the title single “Lil’ Touch” on September 5, 2018. The name Oh!GG was a combination for “Oh!” and “Girls’ Generation”, which meant that the group would grab the attention of global fans with their music, style, and the personal charms of each of the members.
Comeback as DJ HYO
Debuted as a member of Girls Generation with nine members under S.M Entertainment, Hyoyeon has been working as part of Girls Generation for about ten years, since 2007. Always having previously worked just as part of her group, on April 18, 2018, Hyoyeon made her solo debut as a Disc Jockey (DJ) with the stage name DJ Hyo.
Hyoyeon, who’s known as a ‘Dancing Machine’ of Girls Generation, released her first single as a DJ with the title “Sober”. This song is a tropical future house track, with a catchy electric guitar riff and energetic hook. Hyeyeon worked with DJ Ummet Ozcan in the song and released this EDM track in both Korean and English. Overall, the song is about liberating girls who feel trapped and tired of the norm.
DJ Hyo performed Sober by Advanced at the World DJ Festival in Jamsil Olympic Stadium in Seoul and was invited as a special guest at the World Club Dome Korea, where she performed “Sober” with DJ Ummet Ozcan.
After “Sober” was released, this song stayed on the iTunes charts in a number of countries, such as Chile, the Philippines, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Lithuania, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Kamboja, Guatemala, and Indonesia.
Hyoyeon as Solo Artist
The 30 year old multi-talented dancer, Hyoyeon, made her solo debut in June, 2017, with her first digital single, “Wannabe”. Years later, her agency, SM Entertainment, officially announced that Hyoyeon would be debuting as a Disc Jockey (DJ) as well, on on April 18, 2018, and released digital single “Sober” with a new stage name as DJ HYO.

Hyoyeon in Hit the Stage
Hit the Stage is an Mnet television program in which K-ppo idols team up with professional dance teams to compete in a dance survival contest. This program first started airing on July 27, 2016, and concluded the last episode of season 1 in September, 2016.
One of the contestants in this prestigious show was SNSD’s Hyoyeon.
In episode 4, which was aired on August 17, 2016, Hyoyeon was paired with professional dancer Yoo Jun-seon, who’s famous in 1 million dance team, to dance to Shinee’s Reply. The show intimated that both of them would leave the audience dazzled.
Another of her best performances and best results came to Hyoyeon and her crew when their win in Hit the Stage coincided with her birthday on September 22, 2016.
