In 1998, Han Chae-young first met Choi Dong-joon at a meeting with her friends. They first met in United States, before she started her career in the entertainment industry, and when he moved there to study. They had been good friends for eight years, and they started having more romantic feelings in September, 2006. They dated seriously for more than a year. They finally got married at the Shilla Hotel, on June 02, 2007. Her husband, Choi Dong-joon, worked at a foreign investment company at the time of their marriage, while running his own business between Korea and the United States. At first, she said in an interview that she had no plans to have children yet. Then she hinted at her pregnancy in March ,2013, during filming of KBS2’s Ad Genius Lee Tae-baek drama. As soon as filming for the drama was over, she flew to the United States and spent most of the rest of her pregnancy there. She received prenatal care before returning to Korea on August 15, 2013. After six years of marriage, on August 28, 2013, she gave birth to her first son in Seoul the next day, around 1 P.M. (KST) through a caesarean section. On September 13, 2013, she celebrated her birthday by uploading a picture of her selca and included an image of her baby boy’s tiny, cute feet, saying she was happy as a mother. Through her personal Weibo (@韩彩英), she wrote, “My birthday this year is even more special, thanks to the new addition to the family. Thank you for all your congratulations. I want to see you all very soon!” Though she said that she wanted to focus on mothering for a while, she returned to the entertainment industry two months later. In 2009, she talked about their future plans and said that she wanted to have at least two children. On October 30, 2016, she appeared on MBC’s Section TV show, she was asked to describe her life as a mother, her son, and even her parenting philosophies. As reported by Allkpop, she answered with one word “Freedom”, and explained, “I want to give him freedom because he is still young. I want for him not care about studying and just run and play. He just started going to kindergarten, he says that it’s hard to study for so long.” She commented about her son, “He is good at talking… Because he is young, he is obsessed with dinosaurs. He scolds me if I get the dinosaurs’ names wrong. I have to study with the dinosaurs dictionary.” When speaking of her husband, she said that her husband plays an active role in their child’s life and she’s actually jealous of him about one thing. She said, “He helps with a lot. Since our child is a boy, he likes his father more, and I get very jealous about that,” with a smile that indicated that it’s actually a good kind of jealousy. Celebrating New Year’s Eve with family is the best moment ever. Of course, Han Chae-Young did not miss out. She was celebrating her time with her son on New Year’s Eve. Through her personal Instagram account (@han_chae_young_), on January 01, 2017, she uploaded a happy photo with Happy New Year’s greetings with her son, and the caption read, “Happy New Year! Happy to be with you! Happy all 2017 ~! Even though I get kicked.. I’m so happy. Wish you all the best for 2017”. In the photo you can see she was smiling, despite her son’s kick. It was the first time she revealed her son’s face to the public.

She took her son to school, and was singing in the car. However, her son told her, “Do not sing!” while laughing. How cute they are! In an interview with TV Report in October, 2017, she talked about her married life, “After getting married and living a stable life, I have way more of an optimistic mindset. Because of that, I was able to challenge myself to new things like ‘Unnies Slam Dunk’, and I enjoyed showing my actual personality. I’m constantly trying to balance my personal life and my life as an actress. My 5-year-old son doesn’t even know I’m an actress. He just thinks I’m a normal person who comes out on TV because I sing well,” as reported by Allkpop. Then she said, “After getting married and having a child, I do my best in everything and enjoy even the smallest things. My heart is very comfortable. I’m able to be thankful for small joys.” In an interview with Sports Seoul in October, 2017, she shared some exclusive details about the joys of being a mother, “My son is so cute. When I dress well, my son said, “You look like a princess”. I once went to the resort, put on a long dress, and asked my husband to take a picture. Then my son ran up and said, “Mom, you should have a prince next to the princess.” She also likes to share her vacations with her son, through her personal Instagram account. On January 07, 2018, through her personal Instagram account (@han_chae_young_), she uploaded a photo where she was carrying her sleepy son, in Wisconsin Dells, United States, while they were travelling. Her fans showed their affection towards this adorable mother and son, as they praised, “You look like his older sister. How is this even possible”, “Beautiful mom”, “So pretty”, also “Have a nice day~~ with your handsome baby”. On January 24, 2018, she even posted a picture of she and her son lying in bed with the caption “Mom and son sleeping” through her personal Instagram account. She also showed off her innocent beauty, even though she doesn’t wear make-up. Unfortunately, she deleted the post, but you can still see the photo around the internet. She also posted this picture, on April 02, 2018, through her personal Instagram account, before deleting that post too. In the photo, her son were getting a haircut while he was asleep, and Han Chae-Young’s gaze was fixed on her son, and her eyes were full of love.
