Mullets refer to haircuts that are short in the front and long in the back. The mullet was on-trend in 1970s, worn by rock stars like Rod Stewart, David Bowie, Andy Mackay of Roxy Music, and Paul McCartney. In 1990s the style was worn by the hip-hop group, the Beastie Boys, due to their promotion song Mullet Head. Mullet, itself, can be a term used to describe a person with dubious intelligence. Baekhyun used the style for EXO’s special comeback, One Summer Night Ko Ko Bop, on July 18, 2017. He talked about his hairstyle while on Naver V Live, during EXO’s promotion, “Because of my new mullet hairstyle, soccer player Kim Byung Ji’s name has been appearing on related search term. I had this hairstyle when I was in kindergarten. My mom tried it on me after watching the US drama ‘MacGyver.’” He continued, “It feels weird to be having same hairstyle after a decade. It might seem strange, but since it is part of our comeback concept, please give it another look.” Well, let’s take that other look, along with one at Baekhyun’s previous hairstyle:
Before
He used to have a short cut, with a darker color and short bangs. It’s a standard hairstyle for male idols. He changed his hair color from black to a dark brown, but still kept a short haircut (and looked very handsome, too).
After
Suddenly, EXO Baekhyun appeared with this eccentric look! Short in the front, with bangs, and long in the back. The color is also a bit unusual, with the red and black highlights. He even been compared with the South Korean soccer player, Kim Byung-ji.
