As many knows, the act of making a fantasy couple out of your favorite idols, or what most know as shipping, is widely popular in a lot of fan communities, K-Pop included. They usually include the most popular idols from the most popular groups, as fans just imagine them up in the form of stories, edits, and art. Check out some of Tzuyu and Jungkook’s manipulated pictures down below! One quite unique edit that can be found in the this ship’s fandom is an edit of Tzuyu and Jungkook’s childhood pictures. Taken from pictures shown at fanmeets and photobooks, fans make up a composite of how it would be if the two actually took a picture together as children. This, in itself, is quite unique as the editing uses a black and white filter to make the edit seamless and give it a nostalgic effect. Another black and white edit was made for the couple using photoshoot pictures taken separately, and merging the two to create this composite. The lighting from the two photoshoots are quite similar, so it was easy for fans to make the edit as if it was real. The only other thing added is the monochromatic filter to hide any differences in color grading or picture quality that can’t be manipulated much without destroying the quality of the picture. Another popular concept that fans adopt to make edits is to use pictures from fansigns, mostly because idol groups hold fansigns in similar places or even the same ones, making editing that much easier when they have the same background and lighting. In the case of the picture above, they even had similar-looking flower crowns to tie in the edit better, added with the natural-looking background match, makes it seem very real and seamless. Airports are also quite popular places for fans to make edits of, as idols only really arrive through two major airports in South Korea, either Incheon International Airport or Gimpo Airport. The one above seem to make use of pictures taken at the Incheon International Airport arrivals area, with the two appearing to be wearing matching striped shirts. The couple shirts matched with the seamless background and lighting makes for a great photo manip, as the quality doesn’t degrade from the original picture, probably taken by a fansite. Selfies and selcas are another popular type of manipulation, as it enables fans to have their favorite idols pose quite intimately with each other while hugging or in other, similarly close poses. The lighting in these pictures is also quite dark, so it’s not as hard for fans to recreate shadows and leave almost no background showing. The only thing hindering them from creating the perfect composite is the quality of the pictures to begin with and trying to find pictures that would create a natural-looking pose like the one above. The kind of pictures fans ideally use for manipulations are the promotion pictures from brand deals or photoshoots, as they usually make use of similar backgrounds and universal lighting. Not only that, the idols compensate for the rather bland set up with unique and interesting poses, like the one above where Tzuyu is made to be hugging Jungkook, who embraces her.
Their Moments and Interaction
In the time both Tzuyu and Jungkook have promoted as idols with their respective groups, they have had overlapping schedules such as award shows, year-end shows, and weekly music shows. These overlapping schedules amount to what people call ‘ghost interactions’, in which the two might sometimes watch the other perform or stand next to each other. The footage seems show one of them at a time, such that we cannot really confirm whether these ghost interactions really did occur or not.
