Hyomin has long been known as an ulzzang (the person with the best visuals, the most beautiful or most handsome) who was very famous in cyberspace. Then she joined JYP Entertainment to become a trainee who would later replace Hyuna in the Wonder Girls, but eventually she moved to Core Contents Media to join the girl-group T-ara, instead. Hyomin’s Best Appearance
Hyomin made her debut in 2009 as a member of T-ara. The group made their debut on July 30, on the music program M! Countdown with their single “Lie”. 2009
In 2009, Hyomin made her debut with the group T-Ara, with the single “Lie (거짓말), Their debut studio album, Absolute First Album, was released in December 2009 and spawned several hit songs, including “TTL (Time to Love)”, “Bo Peep Bo Peep”, and “You Drive Me Crazy”. Hyomin was a permanent cast member of the KBS variety show Invincible Youth from October 23, 2009 to December 24, 2010. In November 2009, Hyomin was cast in the musical production I Really Really Like You, an adaptation of the hit drama Love Truly. Lie (거짓말) T-ara debuted first on the MBC talk show Radio Star, on July 29, 2009. Their first appearance was on Mnet’s M! Countdown music show the following day, where they performed “Geojitmal” (거짓말, “Lies”) and “Norabollae?” (“Want to Play?”) from their debut single. Their debut was viewed negatively by web posts, when people stated that it was lip-synced and commented that it looked like an “elementary school” performance.
Bo Peep Bo Peep “Bo Peep Bo Peep” is another song the group put out. This is the first main song (of two) from the Absolute First Album. The other is “Like The First Time”. The song won 5 weekly number one awards on KBS Music Bank and SBS Inkigayo.
2010
In February 2010, T-Ara announced the re-release of their debut album, titled Breaking Heart. The two main singles, “Neo Ttaemune Michyeo” (“I’m Crazy Because of You”) and “Naega Neomu Apa” (“I’m Really Hurt”), were released digitally on February 23, 2010, and peaked at #1 and #30 on the Gaon chart, respectively. T-ara held their comeback performance the same day on M! Countdown, and won several music awards for “Neo Ttaemune Michyeo” during their promotion: two consecutive Mutizen wins on Inkigayo and one first place award on M! Countdown. Yayaya “Yayaya” was promoted together with “Wae Ireoni” as their first mini album, entitled Temptastic. The songs were released simultaneously on December 1, 2010, and then the physical album released on December 3. The album was previously postponed until December 1, due to the Yeonpyeong Shooting incident in November. On December 12, Yayaya won first place on M! Countdown. The song was later re-released in Japanese on November 30, 2011, as their second Japanese single.
You Drive Me Crazy (너 때문에 미쳐) You Drive Me Crazy, also known as I’m Crazy Because of You, was released on the February, 2010 album Breaking Heart, with the song “Naega Neomu Apa” (“I’m Really Hurt”).
2011
T-ara released their second EP, John Travolta Wannabe, on June 29, 2011. It charted at #3 on the Gaon Album Chart and sold 30,116 copies in 2011. Their only other EP, “Roly-Poly”, peaked at #2 on the Gaon Digital Chart and #1 on the Korean K-Pop Hot 100 chart. The single became a breakthrough success, becoming the best-selling album and best-selling single of 2011 in South Korea, with more than four million digital units sold. She also collaborated with Brave Brothers for their digital single “Beautiful Girl” in 2011. On June 14, 2011, Core Contents Media announced that Hyomin would take over as T-ara’s leader for their comeback album, John Travolta Wannabe, and Japanese promotions. She then gave up her leadership to another member, Park So-yeon. Hyomin made her big screen debut in the horror film Gisaeng Ryung, which was released on August 4, 2011. Roly-Poly “Roly-Poly” is a dance-pop song. It was taken from their second mini album, John Travolta Wannabe, released on June 29, 2011. The song was written and produced by Shinsadong Tiger and Choi Gyu Sung, who were also behind the hit song “Bo Peep Bo Peep”.
We Were in Love (우리 사랑했잖아) (with Davichi) We Were in Love is a T-Ara song featuring Davichi. This song was released in 2011, from the album Funky Town.
2012
T-ara released the mini album Black Eyes, with the title Funky Town on January 3, 2012. “Lovey-Dovey” became the second single from this album. In April 2012, Core Contents Media announced that there would be two new members added T-ara in July, thus turning T-ara into a nine-member group. On May 30, 2012, 14-year-old Dani was announced as one of the new members. Day by Day This song was released in 2012 and re-released in an album titled Mirage. This song means that humanity wants to act like God and regulate everything as if they were God.
Sexy Love Sexy Love is a song the group released in 2012. The music video carried by T-ARA was sad and scary, set at a time when the world is in ruins. Of course, the video is also full of scenes of violence committed between the evil and the good. Dani plays the character of a good girl who is blind, but has power. Dani gets protection from Hyomin in facing a cruel world. Jiyeon acts as an enemy in this video. Its cruel nature is considered to represent some of the people in this world. Jiyeon still needs to be crushed because of her crime.
