Ji-un Kim, iKon’s Bobby’s Brother
iKon’s Bobby’s brother, who is otherwise known as Ji-un Kim, or Jay Kim, was born in Seoul. He has never told the exact date when he was born but during a Q&A session on his YouTube channel, Ji-un Kim mentioned that he was born in 1992. Therefore, Bobby and his brother have an age gap of three years between them. In addition, Ji-un is as tall as Bobby as his height is 180.2 cm. Bobby and Ji-un are close siblings. Some photos and videos of their childhood surfaced on the internet as soon as Bobby debuted with iKon. In one of his videos, Ji-un said that he feels that Bobby and Jiwon (Bobby’s original name) are two different persons. He does not feel fascinated about Bobby except when he accessed Instagram and YouTube because there are so many Bobby and iKon’s fans who have left comments on his account. A year after iKon debuted, Ji-un Kim posted several photos of Bobby’s hilarious face, as well as showing his support toward Bobby’s project that year.

He already started to practice since he was six years old and became an instructor even in his high school days. Ji-un said that during his longtime stay in the USA, he never particularly faced racism because the area where he lived is full of mixed races, especially Koreans. He is able to speak in English but in a conversational way, not grammatically correct like a native speaker, “After all, what makes you able to speak is confidence.” Ji-un said that he learned English from an American friend at the Taekwondo gym who was half black and half white. He taught Ji-un as they spoke to each other.

He married to Jeeyoung Jeong, his senior in high school whom he had already been dating for five years. After Bobby and their parents went back to South Korea, Ji-un remained living in Virginia with Jeeyoung. They somehow already knew that they were going to marry. Ji-un told his vlog subscribers that he proposed to Jeeyoung under a Christmas tree in Vapiano restaurant. He played Bruno Mars’ “Marry You” on his cellphone and gave Jeeyoung the ring. They went on a trip to Niagara Fall and Long Wood Garden with Ji-un’s parents, Bobby, and Ji-un’s grandmother after their wedding. The couple was also sent to Fukuoka, Japan by Ji-un’s mother for their honeymoon, spending their time at a hot spring at Yufuin and watching iKon’s concert where he and Jeeyoung were recognized by some of the fans at the venue.

She momentarily stopped her job when she was pregnant but decided to resume after giving birth to Ra-on, her son with Ji-un. Before they had a child, Ji-un had a pregnancy dream. In addition, they had not realized about Ra-on’s existence until she was three months pregnant, which led them to give him the nickname ‘Oddish’, one of the Pokemons because Ra-on is growing while ‘hiding’ his existence in his first three months in the womb, letting Jeeyoung do her activities as usual.

Jeeyoung added that she will evaluate Ji-un’s effort as a father toward Ra-on before deciding whether they will have more kids in the future.
#❤️#💙 A post shared by Jiun Kim (@wacoong_jiun_kim) on Nov 3, 2018 at 5:43pm PDT Ji-un and Jiyoung live in Virginia and do not have plans to go back to South Korea. They reasoned that their slow lifestyle suits Virginia more than Seoul, “South Korea and New York are perfect for a one-month trip.” In addition, they decided to name their first kid Ra-on because of its meaning ‘joy’, as well as naming him ‘Joy’ for his English name. Ji-un and Jeeyoung stated that Korean will be Ra-on’s first language, as well as revealing their plan to be both strict and cool parents. Ji-un said, “I think I will be like my father. He is very cool toward me and Jiwon.” Ji-un expressed that he wants to exercise and go to a public bath with Ra-on in the future. He will also encourage Ra-on to practice several martial arts, such as Taekwondo, Jiu-jitsu, boxing, wrestling, and judo, as well as playing the piano. The new parents agree that they will let Ra-on do whatever he wants to do but if he wants to be an artist like his uncle, Bobby, he must have skills in order to survive in the industry. What a wise and mature couple!
